Should her neighbour have shouted at her?
Plumber fixing a leak in Dsis house had to use his hammer (on crowbar) to release a skirting board. All other floorboards etc were loosened and did not need any sort of force so he had been working quietly up till then. This was around 8.30pm (plumber arrived 2 hours later than agreed). Dsis neighbour knocks on her door and when she opens starts shouting at the top of his voice so the whole street could hear "stop that banging, baby trying to sleep, telling you now etc" and then storms off..... Yes it was late and they should have realised this but wouldn't it have been enough to just have a word? There had been no prior incidents or bad blood although this neighbour had been acting a bit strangely recently. Dsis told plumber to cease and finish off another day (earlier in the day). For the sake of good neighbourly relations what would MNetters advice please? Is it worth trying to apologise to a neighbour who seems to have some sort of grudge? Or should she just let him be and hope that now he's had a good shout at her he has gotten whatever is bothering him out of his system? What is the correct etiquette in this situation to attempt to normalise things?
