Warning, this may make you spew...

Okay, this is the fourth one of these things i've seen this week.

Every window in the house has been left opened 24/7 the past fortnight because of the heat, so I'm worried this has caused some sort of infestation.

I've tried Googling what it is, but to no avail.

The closest thing i can find is a flea. I've never seen a real life flea before but assumed they were tiny. This thing in my picture was about about the size of the nail on my little finger.

I have two kittens who have both received 2 deflea vaccinations in the past three months. They went for a check up two weeks ago and were clear.

Any ideas?

Please excuse the bits of mould around it... My window sill is unfortunately a hot spot for dampness.

Thank you!

Here's the reply I've received from my post on quoteunquote's link.

"Well it is indeed a 'bug', in fact a True Bug - Order Hemiptera. This is one of the group called plant bugs (Family Miridae) and is one of the Phytocoris species - from what I can see I would lean towards Phytocoris longipennis.

This group of mirids are predatory on small invertebrates - so a 'garden goody'.

See UK Bugs info here: www.britishbugs.org.uk/heteroptera/Miridae/phytocoris_longipennis.html

I have to admit, 'longipennis' made me laugh...

Glad it has been identified. I'm not an expert but then I thought it might be a cockroach or even a scorpion. So just as well I didn't reply. Grin

A scorpion! Shock

I'd have been running for the hills. Grin

If it's a capricorn beetle, they like to eat roof and floor timbers - we had them in our house and had the timbers treated.
