Someone called my blog boring!

PavlovtheCat · 29/11/2012 22:52

He said that I had some quite good things to say, but it was a dull read. that maybe I should add some video or photos or decent links to make it more interesting, less boring and keep people returning.

I know it is, and have not posted much last couple of weeks as I think I am too boring, so this just makes me feel even more Sad and crap at it!

I used to do political blogging and a bit of history blogging. Other people whose blogs I read used to do a mix of political and personal, or political and another interest. There are as many reasons to blog as there are, well, things and stuff in the world!

Pavlov, are you absolutely sure that it wasn't some tiresome spammer? :)

And for the record, I KNOW my blog is boring because I blog about history and am well aware that to most people I might as well just post a video of paint drying and be done with it. :)

I won't ask if you meant to be so rude goralka as its obvs that was your intention.

Santa's blog may not be to your taste, but I've seen worse!

I like that blog- it's chatty and fun (and actually there are some posts which are more general and political which have sparked debate and discussion- the one about rape, for example), and a good way to be kept up to date with how my friend is getting on. It's perfectly ok for blogs to do that. I doubt I'd read one similar if I didn't know the person though- I find that a bit peculiar. I certainly wouldn't comment or be rude about it. Not if I didn't want to come across as a cunt, anyway.

says the charmer who just called me a 'cunt' - Grin

I implied that that sort of behaviour makes a person look like a cunt, which it does. It wasn't personally calling you that.

'turdy' 'trashy' 'cunt' - Grin lovely.
I only looked at her blog as she had advertised it and I thought it might be interesting as some are. And the idea of publishing her family history including letters from her ex and then advertising it did make me feel slightly ill, honestly.
I had to go make some tea to recover.
I do not think that calling me a trashy turdy cunt is deserved really.

Well, I like it. Smile

I like how you're talking about issues people don't always talk about and lots of people don't realize are so difficult to deal with, but you're keeping in lighthearted in the main.

Some people will always be mean spirited. It's probably more of a compliment if they don't like your stuff! Grin

I wouldn't underestimate the issue of misogyny in this either, especially since you are part of the MN bloggers. A certain organisation made up of aggressive and abusive men spend inordinate amounts of time trolling the web to insult "feminists"

It is a good blog- as you say, Stewie, it shows dignity and grace under stress. I often think that the less posturing, more personal blogs are actually well-placed to do that, whether it's providing inspiration for people suffering chronic illness, or showing readers how happy you can be once you've divorced a pig. That's a good message, I think.

Yes, there are sadly loads of men hanging about the place who absolutely cannot STAND it that women have a voice. My worst blog comments have ALL been from men who have been keen to put me in my place. I used to get really upset about it because they really made me doubt what I was trying to do, but now I just laugh at them and change their comments to links to Viagra and penis extension sites...

well it's all kicked off while I have been out in RL!

For those who are bloggers, on this bloggers forum thank you for your kind words, support and encouragement. I know that you are honest, and I trust that you will, and have in the past, tactfully directed me in how to manage my blog, as a new blogger. I hope you will continue to do so, and not just blow smoke up my ass, as in the past I have asked for honest critical views and it has helped me improve my blogging experience, and you all inspire me with your own blogging styles and experiences, even those blogs that I don't necessarily have a 'connection' with, I love reading.

For those who are not bloggers who have come along to this bloggers forum with genuine interest and good intentions, thank you for being interested, if not in my own blog, but blogging in general, it has taken me closer to support which I don't have in my own personal life, specifically around back problems that I have. I have found blogging cathartic, as an outlet when I have nowhere else to vent my random thoughts in the night, when those around me are sick of hearing it. I have met some wonderful people who are, and have been where I am now, and some who have come through, or are just coming through the other side of where I am, with guidance, advice, and a hand to hold. I have some people who are where I am and need a hand to hold, so I am holding it. Blogging is not for everyone, as pointed out, some people knit, some people run, some people blog. If you like writing, like being part of a network of writers that welcome and support, whether you are good or not, give it a try.

For all the other rude posters, I will say this as eloquently as I can - fuck off. Thanks
