Great story. Not for you obv Pav. As soon as I read blog I knew it was you. I remember the accident too. It sounded horrendous. Very shocking.

Didn't realise you were suffering so much now though.

I am a great fan of chiropractors but note you have been warned not to attend one. A couple of friends have had discs removed and recovered well. I hope you get it sorted quickly. Just feeling that there is light at the end of the tunnel must be great.

pav I had a discetomy 6 years ago and it was amazing. yes, of course, 6 weeks out not able to do much is a giant nuisance, but the sheer pain relief was instant.

Lately, my back has been playing up again and another part of same disc has broken off. My advice would be to find out exactly what disc it is (mine is L4/5) and see if it is part disk of full disk. You can PM me any time you want.

thanks jax last MRI showed it was l5/s1 disc, and was partly prolapsed with a tear, but spinal pathway guy felt it either has got worse/prolapsed further, or maybe the one above has gone too. I can't believe it hasn't got worse as the pain has got so much worse, in particular the sciatic pain, which I cannot get under control without nerve blockers. I just cannot take them. I am hearing more and more success stories from people who have had either discectomy or spinal fusion. I may well PM you at some point in the near future, thank you for your kind offer.

most welcome pav The whole reason for my op was pain relief - the bone was sitting on my sciatic nerve and had trapped it.

holy jesus, mary and joseph the pain was horrendous. I was literally screaming in pain. I was lucky to have private health care and within a week of MRI scan I was in and had op. I did physio, followed instructions and have a 'beautiful scar' according to my consultant.

I wont promise a lifetime of being pain free, but I will say if done properly you will have years of not screaming in agony. Anytime you want to chat, or ask questions you can contact me. Although I may have to ask my DH as I was stoned for almost 3 months on some mega doses of drugs - which knocked me out for a few hours at a time.
