Godpresents for siblings

Old friends have never bought our dss xmas or birthday presents, so years later when their dcs were born we never bought xmas or bday presents for theirs.
So far so normal.

Now they've asked me to be godmother to second (of 3) dd. I don't really 'do god' but they're happy to have a heathen godmum crossing her fingers in church, so I've agreed and am honoured. But not sure of godly etiquette. I want to show goddaughter is special to me but we've never mutally begifted each other's offspring so.. .. wwyd about presents? Do we now:
A. Start buying goddaughter birthday and/or xmas presents? Leaving other sibs out?
B. Start buying all 3 dcs birthdays and/or xmas presents?
C. Carry on as before. They don't do ours. We don't do theirs. But buy for the christening only?

I'll pray for advice Wink

Buy for the christening only as don't think I could buy for only one at Christmas and birthdays x

I would do A. I would never expect godparents to give gifts to all our kids, tbh I don't 'expect' gifts at all but it's lovely that they do give. But only to the child that they're responsible for.

How about 'giving' to your godchild in a different way. You don't say how old she is, but can you give time instead of things - take her out for an afternoon/day, to do something special just for the two of you. It doesn't have to be expensive - trips to see just one thing in a (free to enter) museum, and make up a history about it, a special trip to get an ice cream somewhere, borrow a tent and sleep out in the garden. Can you think of ways to build a special relationship so that as she grows older she has her own special adult to go to, that she doesn't have to share with her siblings?

I'd do A as well. I give presents to my goddaughter but not her sister, it is part of our special relationship.

I do A but sometimes give a "family present" for Christmas and Easter. I have 8 god children and they all have siblings so it could get quite pricey otherwise!

I give my god daughter and her brother small 'token' gifts on their birthdays (not more than £5 value), more for them to have something to unwrap than anything else. But I deposit £20 every year into a child's bank account for her and she will have it when she's 18/19/20/21/when appropriate and it will be a surprise to her then. I know her brother has a generous godmother so he won't be going without.

Oh - only just spotted the answers on this. Thank you! Consensus seems to be that it's ok to give god-dd presents without feeling obliged to the other sibs. I'm inclined to option A I think ...
