Time for a new hobby - what would you do?

After three kids in four years and a new puppy to boot I am coming up for air and looking to start a new hobby. What I'd really like to do would be to dip into a range of stuff that I'd like to learn about and this has started me thinking about setting up local 'how to' sessions for local mums.

The kind of things I'm thinking about are how to...
Photoshop your photos and digitally organise them
Plan and organise a week's menu for the family
Arrange flowers / make wreaths at Christmas
Appreciate great works of art
Maintain your car
Do basic DIY like put up pictures, curtain poles, blinds and shelves
Carry out elementary first aid
Appreciate wine
Decorate and ice cakes

What if I set up a ten week course or one offs locally and for a reasonable fee, do you think that people would be interested?

I've provided workshops for a local (council run) venue with a full time marketing manager and marketing budget. I wouldn't want to compete with them so it depends on how organised your competition is.

But yes there's a market if your local council is disorganised.

Thanks, they are very organised with the adult education market which run hundreds of courses but they're not so tailored to a highly educated/experienced population of mums in this area. I think there is both a good source of people to teach/share skills and ones wanting to pick up a skills or learn something interesting over a few weeks. So no big time commitment but takes us away from talking about the bleeding' children all the time! Many of us want to do something that's just for us and I think I may be able to put together something really fun. Curious if others think if it's a good idea;)

I think it's a good idea. The venue I've worked with doesn't do adult education courses, it does the kind of thing you mention. So if yours isn't doing that I'm sure there's a market.

I'm self employed, have been an events manager and am currently putting together some corporate training and would be happy to talk risk assessments etc via PM if you want.

Thanks! I'm starting to think through what would need to be in place to make it worth my while. I reckon that people wouln't want to pay more than £10 a session and the presenter would want about £30 a session. Then there's venue hire which would be about £30. WaitingForMe, would love to have more of a chat about details - what's PM!?
