do I carry on?

Just some advice please. I started blogging not long ago and I really enjoy it.

The problem is I've hit some bumps in the road with my health and I'm in a bad place (I think I'm sinking into a slow depression, but that's not the point)

Its afftected my writing style, everything is just emotionless and bland, I'm publishing less and less as I'm just not happy with it. Do I keep going? Use my blog to work through my frustration and anger? Or do I take a brake, until I'm happier?

Also (and this doesn't help) I've had annonomous comments on my blog, which just weren't nice (I moderate comments so they weren't published) but I think were from 'friends' as it mentioned something personal to me. They were complaining I was posting too much, on fb but I'm getting 120 views a day so someone somewhere is reading. Do I adjust to these cowards who couldn't even leave a name or just carry on what I'm doing?

If blogging makes you happy, carry on. Ignore others, they dont have to follow your blog or follow FB links, do they?

I agree - if it makes you happy (or if you find it helpful), keep going. Your blog, your space, and you can write what you want in it.

I know it's hard, but ignore the negative criticism. If we blog long enough, then statistically we're going to end up annoying someone eventually. As long as others are still reading and enjoying it - and as long as you're still getting fulfilment from writing it - then it's all good.

I hope you feel better soon.

I recently went through a spell of depression, I am still up and down now but I can't tell you how much blogging has helped me put my thoughts together and deal with the stresses that I have to cope with, even if nobody ever reads it I enjoy doing it and thats good enough for me.

Good luck and glad you are feeling a little happier :)

I agree. It's not like they have to follow your blog or on fb.

If it helps, write. It's your blog, not theirs.

I've always found writing/blogging incredibly helpful therapy for depression, so don't stop - the outlet is fantastic, and sometimes it's only when writing it down that you realise what you really feel. (And you don't want to disappoint those 120 daily readers - fab stats!) And it might just be that the depression is making you feel a bit jaundiced about the blog, and the blog isn't the issue at all. Two brilliant things that have helped me with depression are (a) running (endorphins/quality me-time/meditative opportunities/comfort of a repetitive activity) and (b) the fantastic www.moodscope.com - take a look at it, it has helped so many people (and it also sends you a comforting/reassuring/inspiring daily blog itself too). Hope things look up for you soon.
