WWYD - house dilemma

I have seen a house I love in an amazing area but it is at the top of our budget & needs completely redone (absolutely everything). Financially it will be tight to do everything we want, but will be amazing when finished. I've also seen a house I really like in a good area, just a bit bigger than we have currently but plenty of space for the next few years & doesn't need much work & is less expensive. Financially, things wouldn't be so tight & it does have a better school catchment but I'd be looking for something better again in a few years time (with resulting stamp duty etc). WWYD - have things more comfortable financially & move again in a few years or go for your dream house and accept no holidays, less money all round (I appreciate that people are in dire financial straits & therefore I know we are lucky, but I would be interested in the opinion of others).

5 viewings - well done :)

With a bit of luck you will get an offer or at the very least a second viewing!!

Fingers and toes getting a bit crampy now - but I'll hang in there for you Grin Let me know how it goes tomorrow!!

iloveACK · 20/05/2012 23:41

Thanks both. I did both viewings today (DH has done the others) & I felt ridiculously nervous. No idea why & feel like I was a bit of an idiot - cant explain it but given I'm educated & have a good job & generally presentable in public, I'm not sure what came over me!! It was so bizarre but hopefully they'll have seen past my babbling & will have liked the house enough to at least have a 2nd look!

Sorry about cramping in toes Chipping, but it's much appreciated! Wink

It's one thing to do stuff at work, it's quite another at home!! At home you are emotionally invested in it and you are showing someone your personal space - hoping they love it as much as you do/did and then there's all of the financial stuff fizzing about in your mind as well - a lot of pressure!

I am sure you weren't anywhere near as bad as you felt you were either :)

I can live with the cramping if it brings good results Grin

Thank you. I guess that makes sense but I really did feel like a babbling idiot! Grin

Oh, that's a shame! Hopefully this nice weather will make people start to think more seriously about moving! :)

Did you get any feedback from the agent?

iloveACK · 28/05/2012 00:05

Sorry, just saw your comment Chipping.

One of the people who looked round seem v interested & keep asking more questions but no offers. The rest of the feedback has been positive so not much we can work on really!

We did have another viewing today but they're really looking for a 4-bed (we're 3 bed) so I'm not hopeful with them!

The good thing is that although technically the house we want isn't off the market, they're not actually showing anyone around as they've accepted our offer & the agent reckons they'll be fine for about a month to give us a chance to sell Smile

Still no offers Chipping so no updates as yet Sad.

If you're still interested Chipping, we sold about a month or so ago so should be moving in September all being well Grin
