Need new glasses, none I like in the shops.

I've been looking for new glasses for a month. I wear them all the time so they must be right.

I am an awkward git, I don't like many glasses and not many of them fit.

I got some I liked last week, but they did not fit me properly and I have had to return them. I pretty much poissed that optician of so can't go back there.

To make things worse I haven't much cash to spend on them. (no more than £100)

I am tempted by the ones I've seen on line, but then there's no aftercare and what if they need adjusting and they will knowing me.

Do I keep hoping I will find my dream pair, or take a chance on the online opticians?

Sorry for such a dull question.

Bought mine on line from Directsight, used the measurements printed on my old frames to get a good fit. DS also bought on line, took his into Specsavers for adjusting which they did for free. Mine cost me £32 inc. P&P, one week from order to delivery.

Glasses Direct will send you up to 4 pairs for you to try. It costs £5 iirc, but you get that back if you buy a pair - but you need the prescription to be under 2 years old to get them. Although you could lie

I've had no issues with them, and my local independent optician charged me a flat fee to wiggle the nose pads to get them to sit perfectly. And they even took a varilux & reactive pair back as the change in colour made me dizzy.

Can't recommend them enough!

No, it's a fully refundable deposit with Glasses Direct - I did it, and then got my glasses elsewhere in the end.

I'm a bit confused about the sizes, different companies seem to measure them differently. The glasses I had to return because the arms were to short, actually had an arm length of 130, but my old frames say they are 125 and they fit fine. Hmm

Makes me a bit wary of buying without trying.

Sizes do vary from brand to brand, just like clothes.

If your usual opticians don't have any you like shop around. Have a look at what other opticians stock.

Better to see them in the flesh and try them on.
