Five things I don't like about France

In response to some comments I have had saying that I always go on about France through rose tinted glasses Hmm

Woo hoo pancake day tomorrow Grin

sarahRT · 20/02/2012 18:14

Today my blog was accepted onto Mumsnet. Not a subject that is generally aired in the Drawing rooms of Blighty, but I am hoping that in some small way that I can de-stigmatize the secret relationship that some women have with alcohol. Not the media portrayed Ladette culture, just women who have children, professions, relationships et al, and find that they need to drink to function, often with damaging consequences. It is, I hope, informative and funny at times. Please take a look.

DAY 1 of my £12 Charity Challenge. Feeling quietly confident and not too hungry!

PetiteRaleuse · 20/02/2012 20:00

sarah your blog looks great - I look forward to reading more.

SweetestThing · 20/02/2012 21:14

sarah, have read your blog and commented - great topic, very necessary (sadly).

singlemarriedmum, I am following you with interest so off to read yours and comment :)

www.theundercovergranny.co.uk/2012/02/technology-fails-%E2%80%93-my-favourites/

I wrote a post on my favourite technology fails from around the web. All prompted by a funny little discussion about what mistakes people have made on Facebook.

FiveHoursSleep · 21/02/2012 10:36

Sometimes, having children who can read is not always a good thing

sarahRT · 21/02/2012 10:46

Thank you PetiteRaleuse, I have had my far share of probs with a property in France, look forward to reading your blog! Thank you.

SweetestThing, thank you, and your comment resonates.

Enjoy your pancakes today everyone.

SweetestThing · 21/02/2012 14:19

Genuine mistake by a good friend this morning made me blog this. How would you have felt?

wannaBe · 21/02/2012 15:02

Afternoon

Haven't blogged for a few days, but today I have felt the need to have a bit of a rant about

\link{http://attheheartoftheopinion.blogspot.com/2012/02/tv-talk-shows-irresponsible-to.html\This morning's interview with Natalie Cassidy}

PetiteRaleuse · 21/02/2012 16:39

To redress the balance from yesterday's post , and because I can't stay mad at Fra,ce for long here are ten things I love about France

sarah do PM me if you want any help on your house issue - you never know, I might be able to help in some way

Flubba · 21/02/2012 16:46

That's a really tricky one SweetestThing and impossible to answer honestly without being in your shoes. I would like to think I'd be able to laugh it off (with my false bravado) and let your friend know that was you 'on a good day, but thanks (!) for the reality check!' but that sounds very flippant and, as I'm not in your shoes, I don't know if that's how I would react or not. I can see why you'd have been upset by it. Is she likely to read your blog?

Granny I love the Disney/Divorce one best of all!! :o :o

Great post wannaBe but I don't seem to be able to comment. Seems to be a blogger issue going on at the moment. Can't comment on my own blog either...

Flubba · 21/02/2012 18:33

Petite I've commented using the name/URL option rather than wordpress (which never works for me with blogspot) or the OpenID option. Seems to have worked (well, at least the comment is awaiting moderation)

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 21/02/2012 18:57

I'm trying to answer you but I can't ! I don't know what is wrong with it at the moment.

Thanks very much for your comment though :)

Flubba · 21/02/2012 19:12

Harrumph ~ it's not playing ball tonight. I've tried again (yours truly).

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 21/02/2012 19:17

Oh that was you ! I couldn't answer the other person who commented either :(

Flubba · 21/02/2012 19:30

It's playing silly buggers, that's what it's doing. I keep getting the message "IE has blocked this website..." from MN and my own blog Angry.
Still, I love, love, love French markets. Can't wait for my summer holidays this year :)

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 21/02/2012 19:37

My local market is quite small (but still pretty fab). The nearest really brilliant one is the indoor market in Metz - I go quite rarely as I am lazy, but it is wonderful. Well worth a visit if you're ever in the area (though most people don't come out this way for touristy reasons) :)

BaronessOrczy · 21/02/2012 20:04

Petite I can't comment either...sorry. But I loved the post - I stayed overnight in Metz last summer and we went to the market in the morning!

A not very talkative Tuesday from me - retro pancakes

rubytwoshoes · 21/02/2012 20:58

Remember you can keep up to date with us on twitter @rosiecorriette @booduxbury @mummyandboo

Have a fab week fellow mummy bloggers!!

SweetestThing · 21/02/2012 21:23

flubba, thanks for your post. The friend who commented is a good enough friend that I was able to make a joke of it, but it did make me wonder when I will feel comfortable with sharing photos of my face. I do tend to avoid having photos taken and I tend to joke about having a wonky face - like you say, bravado is the armour of the insecure!

singlemarriedmum · 21/02/2012 22:17

DAY 2....and I've gone a little carrot crazy!

(but resisted urge to add some to my pancakes... ;)
