Hope this meets with your approval. It was getting a bit full on the other thread so we've extended and now need to decorate the new space.

I just re-read my message...

I mean someone as equally fabulous as US!

CaveMum · 29/02/2012 08:45

Grin @Seraphine

Yeah thanks a lot reality!

Seraphine1 · 29/02/2012 09:22

When I was 12, I had a bit of a crush on (don't laugh!) Ralph Macchio from the Karate Kid. Hey, it was the 80s!

I remember reading a teen magazine in the local chemists... and finding out he was 24 years old. I was devastated... seriously upset that he was so much older, and how would I ever have a chance?

Not like I was dealing in reality in the slightest. 12 year old girl, living in tiny town in another country, not famous, not beautiful, but so upset that I'd never have a shot because of my age. No, not realistic at all. Yet there were tears anyway.

Let's say I'm (a lot) older and wiser now. Not to mention married :)

Personally, seeing as he's so incredibly (and publicly) broody, it would be nice if he'd find the right girl and have a chance to settle down a bit, but his career is about to go STELLAR in the next year or so. I really don't think this is the right time - perhaps that's why everyone's being cagey about this new "friend". I can't imagine him being around a lot for the next 2 years!

But then, there's more for us :)

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 29/02/2012 09:26

I hope they're having a nice time and making each other happy. But it's a bit predictable, isn't it; blonde model/heiress/whatever.

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 29/02/2012 09:33

LadyClarice-I agree. I really really want to see him happy and settled. But not with a pouter (I'm not saying she pouts particularly, but you know the type). In the Cabin Pressure pics ie a year ago, he is a faded muppet tshirt and jeans, looking relaxed. He rather looks like a rabbit inthe headlights this week

. I guess fame and success changes everyone and pus immense pressure on any fledgling relationship. Such scrutiny and exposure. I know I am part of that, but I only wish him well...I have a feeling the press generally would love a scandal about any successful Brit, probably more than a success story.

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 29/02/2012 09:34

Pus=puts. Sorry for typos I'm on my phone!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 29/02/2012 09:47

That's a good point about the pics of him this week. And he did look scruffy, happy and relaxed at the Cabin Pressure recording I went to. But then again, there are probably pics of him in the UK looking off guard and defensive; it just depends on the situation. (there are, for example, pics of him from the Frankenstein stage door looking a bit tired/weary/naffed off at posing for yet another photo when he obviously just wanted to get the hell home). First big trip to LA must be an enormous deal and quite head-spinning even for a sensible and grounded person, as BC seems to be. I dunno. His previous girlfriends were also gorgeous and glamorous and successful, so I don't know why this one is annoying me! I wonder if it's just because I think she is and by extension he is becoming a part of an LA 'scene'. That I am irrationally resentful/snobbish about. Grin

Speaking of Frankenstein, new trailer for the NT Live Encore screenings here!

Seraphine1 · 29/02/2012 09:58

There's an article in the Daily Mail too: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2107978/Sherlock-star-forged-special-relationship-blonde-daughter-Patty-Hearst.html

How is his relationship with his half-sister? She sure likes to talk about him to the press!

CaveMum · 29/02/2012 10:05

I would point out, as they make a thing of it in the Telegraph article, that him having his arm around someone does not = relationship.
From what I've seen of him he is a very tactile person, often hugging fans and posing for pictures with an arm around them, so I doubt it means anything.

I know what you mean about Lydia Hearst, LafyClarice, I think it's coz she's (whispers) American Wink. I do think he'd be better off with a non-famous British girl who could happily support his career and follow him around the globe having lots of gorgeous babies with him. The man is so broody after all.

HazeltheMcWitch · 29/02/2012 10:08

Long time lurker, muscling in on thread...

I think the thing that - well, annoys me os too strong a word, but you know what I mean - about the Lydia Hearst hookup is it's sheer predictability - you know, he goes to LA, hooks up with tiny blonde model-turned-actress heiress. When what I liked about BC was that he seemed a bit different, a bit unique, someone who danced to the beat of his own drum so to speak.

HazeltheMcWitch · 29/02/2012 10:12

See, I MUST be annoyed. That hookup has robbed me of my ability to apostrophise.

exexpat · 29/02/2012 10:18

Well, I'd been thinking that he and Rosamund Pike would be a perfect match - both good-looking British actors, right sort of age, both highly intelligent, similar background (boarding school, both have parents who are performers etc). But then I read this week that she's expecting a baby with a highly unsuitable sounding former addict almost old enough to be her father. So much for that bit of match-making.

But it sounds to me like the Lydia Hearst thing is the invention of bored gossip writers: he's in LA, she's in LA, they know each other and have been seen at the same parties = dating. But I would be very surprised if we heard any more about it once he's back in London.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 29/02/2012 10:23

CaveMum, that reminds me of the Four Weddings exchange:
'She's pretty.'
'American.'
'Interesting.'
'Slut.' Grin

Hazel, yes, exactly, predictable. Yawn-o-rama. I'm not angry with him, I'm just disappointed.

But yes, it also could just be newspaper gossip. Although if it is, his publicist is fanning rather than dousing the flames by saying that to say they were dating would be 'a bit strong'. Why not just say 'not true'?

Seraphine1 · 29/02/2012 10:29

LadyClarice, I just spat Diet Coke all over... I love that bit from Four Weddings! Totally appropriate for today!

It's probably just newspaper gossip, but I won't be hateful. Just jealous :)

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 29/02/2012 10:42

Seraphine, yeah, me too.

PS I think he and Rosamund Pike are mates. So not TOTALLY barking up the wrong tree.

LetUsPrey · 29/02/2012 12:38

Now, come on. What's all this talk of reality? There's no place for that type of thing in this thread! Grin

Personally, I think he needs to forget the idea of blondes and go for, oh I don't know, hmm let's see, perhaps a brunette.

Oh, what do you know, I'm a brunette. What an amazing coincidence. Smile

Just as well he's in the States though, because I'm not at my best today. I'm knackered, coming down with a cold and have a spotty chin.

So, less of all this reality crap, okay? Grin

Hi everyone.
I have been lurking since day one, but shy about joining in.
Has everyone seen this? You won't regret watching.

CaveMum · 29/02/2012 13:09

A fun article, particularly her comments about Zoe Saldana [meow]

Fluffymonster · 29/02/2012 13:10

Vote cast - don't like the way it's so obviously skewed towards US shows and audiences though.

That picture doing the rounds today isn't new - it's from the Golden Globes pre-awards dinner where they were pictured in mid-January. And the articles in DM and Telegraph are just re-hashing old news too. Must be a slow news day.

Here's what I think about the gossip (not that it matters). She's a US socialite, dabbling in acting (two films coming out this year), he's a respected actor, breaking into the US. Mutually beneficial friendship? They've known each other since at least Dec 2010 (when that smoking hot Marie Claire photoshoot was).

BC even said himself in the Daybreak interview on Oscar night, that while he's having a great time, "To me it's about work. It's great that I'm here, but I'm here because I'm working. It's a wonderful conincidence that I'm here at the same time as all of this, I happen to be in two films that are being celebrated...but having said all of that, to me - it's just another place to work..."

Even if they were smitten, with his work commitments and her modelling, it would make it quite difficult with all the travelling/filming.

Tbh I don't think she's a complete airhead - went to a top school, good university etc. Used to write for the New York Post, is a successful model (though I doubt she has to work at all), seems quite interesting to hang out with, and has her own life/interests going on.

He was in a steady relationship for 10yrs after all - but right now, his career is sky-rocketing, he's getting more and more film offers, and he has no long term relationship or family commitments. If there was ever a time to party, and have fun, it's probably now. [shrugs]

Before he comes home and settles down.
