Well, I do feel sorry for her, as that attempt to back out was, allegedly, the third. One earlier, alleged, attempt involved turning up at her nation's embassy pleading for assistance to get home. She got no sympathy, even less help, and was "persuaded" to go on with things for the sake of diplomatic relations.
