UH-OH.... Lovely friend has given me a fish pedicure voucher but the thought of it makes me cringe, WWYD?

My lovely friend put together a fab hamper of new baby goodies for me when DS was born last month and in it is a voucher for a fish pedicure.

I've given her a little thankyou card but I just know she'll keep asking whether I've been for it yet.

The thought of fish nibbling my feet is just yak but my friend obviously loves it (she's been a few times) and it's so kind of her to think of me and I'd hate to upset her or waste her money by not using it.

WWYD?

It's a good experience and relaxing. As wellwisher says, they wash your feet first, and the water's clean and warm. It feels tingly and nice as the fish smooth your feet. IMO, everyone should have it done at least once!

Its just wrong, i dont like fish swimming past my feet in the sea and would never go to a lake where I know fish will be and go paddling. Uuuuugh heebygeebies!
Tell her you dont like the idea of it and ask her if she wants it. If she is a good friend she will understand. If not, you know what type of friend she is!

I did a bit of research on this because I liked the idea and was planning to get one but definitely not after reading up on it. It's not only cruel for the fish but carries a risk for humans too. Even if the filters are working perfectly (and from the reading it seems that most are not because they're aquarium filters, not medical grade ones), there are some diseases that can be passed between the fish and humans. Can you be sure that you don't have a tiny tear in the skin in your foot that can be an entry point for viruses or bacteria? The answer has to be "no" because people always have tiny cuts/tears/abrasions in their skin.

Absolutely no point in putting yourself at risk for the sake of a pedicure.

I had it and it wasn't a relaxing experience at all. It was freaky, and the pedicure wasn't great, either.
