I'm working. Sadly. It's becasue I waste too much time on here that I end up working at this time of night. Meh.

SupermassiveLBD · 06/06/2011 21:40

Oh lovely, flour and water glue, the perfect way to spend an evening!

Confused
SupermassiveLBD · 06/06/2011 21:42

I am writing duty e-mails. Fingers crossed I don't copy and paste RA stuff into the wrong window and zap it off...

DumSpiroSpero · 06/06/2011 21:50

Well - am not actually going to be making anything this evening, but have the gunk prepared now and DH is working late tomorrow so will start then.

Have got the basic structures ready so just need to layer on the paper so they can be painted. Am making a maiasaurus nest and a 'working' volcano.

TheSmallPrint · 06/06/2011 22:02

Oh sorry I missed your first post Spiro and wondered what on earth Massive was talking about! Grin new don't do anything like that at our school Spiro, sounds like hard work.

I'm off to watch Glee see you later.

SupermassiveLBD · 06/06/2011 22:05

Did you think I was papering the parlour with Gizzy then ,Small, with my glue?

DumSpiroSpero · 06/06/2011 22:13

We've been given 7 dinosaur themed 'mini' projects and have to complete at least four by the end of term (plus the usual numeracy and literacy stuff you're supposed to keep an eye on).

God only knows what they'll be sending home when she's in Year 6 Confused!

PasstheTwiglets · 06/06/2011 22:13

Was there one about the size of your foot being the same size as your forearm, Small? That always amazes me - you look at the size of your forearm and think "no way!" but put your foot there and you'll see it's true!

We did papier mache today too Spiro!

Small, I saw that Glee episode a few weeks ago and don't wish to see it again :/

Anyway, I must go to the bed now and make the sleep. But first I am reading some more of this Venetia books.

PasstheTwiglets · 06/06/2011 22:13

Spiro, you can get dinosaur egg fossils really cheaply on eBay if that's of any use to you...

DumSpiroSpero · 06/06/2011 22:17

Cheers Twigs - have already salvaged and painted several eggshells and blown a couple so we have whole ones for good measure. Am making baby dino from DAS clay and DD can paint everything.

Am sooo looking forward to the volcano though. They have a 'Sharing Learning' session in a few weeks so am going to take it in then as I really want to see the kids faces when she makes it erupt!

I did it for a couple of her boy mates last year and expected them to be a bit 'meh' but they loved it Grin!

SupermassiveLBD · 06/06/2011 22:25

Sound like fun to me too, Spiro! Will there be photos? Or even better, a YT vid?

OP posts:
DumSpiroSpero · 06/06/2011 22:30

Not sure my technical capabilities extend to original YouTube vids - will definitely be some pics though!

It sounds really grim but when she was feeling a bit peaky at school a few weeks ago they sent her home with one of those cardboard sick bowls (obviously not used!), so I've turned it upside down and cut a hole on the base (now the top) and fitted a spice jar into it which will contain the bicarb of soda. I've added an elastic band to the lid so it's easy to pull off once I've built up the 'volcano' round the top. I'm going to put in in the centre of a big tray and grow cress round it and add some plastic dinosaurs. Then once it's at school we just need to add the vinegar (which I'll stick some red food colouring in) and whoosh!

SupermassiveLBD · 06/06/2011 22:44

A shame my two are too old for this, it sounds brilliant!

::Wafts in, waggling a bottle of champers::

Hello, lovelies. I've been at the members' evening for the RA summer exhibition. Girl was most impressed with the architectural models so I have been encouraging her to think about being an artichoke, like wot Small is.

Hic.

DumSpiroSpero · 06/06/2011 22:46

I am completely bonkers tbh! I can never make life easy for myself, especially if there's something creative to throw myself at.

Once this is finished I'm going to spending most of the summer hols getting ready for DD's birthday tea & party - both themes that it is impossible to buy ready-made stuff for so am doing it all myself.

I will live to regret it!

Oops. I didn't spot the ambiguity. ::smacks forehead:: I was at the Royal Academy summer exhibition. As far as we know, Monsieur Armitage is not going to be exhibited in an art gallery for the edification of the carriage trade, is he?

::the mind boggles::

SupermassiveLBD · 06/06/2011 23:01

Hic haec hoc.

OP posts:
DumSpiroSpero · 06/06/2011 23:01

I think he probably gets enough exhibiting here!

SupermassiveLBD · 06/06/2011 23:03

Despite the fact that he is, of course, our favourite Work of Art, I should think not, Maudikins.

Massive was just funnin'

SupermassiveLBD · 06/06/2011 23:04

True, Spiro. Naughty us Blush

SupermassiveLBD · 06/06/2011 23:18

So tell us more Maud. Is it going to be fascinating?

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/06/2011 23:40

Err, dunno. 'Tis very exciting for me because I haven't gone for about the last 10 years and I got to wear a dress and proper shoes with heels and mascara and, and, and everything.

But, more importantly, probably yes. I think from what I skimmed through in the paper that this is the first time that each room has been curated and, perhaps as a result, it did all seem more coherent as an exhibition than the usual jumble of stuff crammed onto the walls. This was my favourite painting but Girl and her friend had a fascinating conversation with the artist who had made the coffin (discussed here - can't find a picture online).
