15 Weeks PG and desperate to stop smoking. Please Help!

Okay, so I posted this on here because I didn't know where else to post it as I already know I am being unreasonable.

I am 15 weeks pg and have so far had a fairly difficult pregnancy, I have also suffered from a chronic pain disorder since I was young that just seems to be getting worse the further along I get.

Before I got pregnant I had smoked about 30ish full strength cigarettes a day and when I found out I was pregnant I tried to cut them down to a point where I could quit easily. After everything that has happened so far with this pregnancy I fear the stress has taken my attention away from what I need to be doing, and that is stopping smoking for my baby. I am absaloutly desperate to quit. I just wanted to know if anyone else smoked before they got pg and had difficulties quitting? And if so, what did you do?
I am currently smoking 10 very low tar/nicotine/cm cigarettes a day. Although I know this is lower it is still 10 to many. The last time I had the cm test I scored 7.

I haven't no. Just googled it and will defineatly be getting it.
I am seriously willing to try anything!
Just before I got pg I was meant to be starting a course of champix as nothing else has worked with me. (allergic to patches)
Thank you. :)

Just to echo Allen Carr from ladyintheradiator I have a friend who smoked throughout her whole pregnancy, she was desperate to give up but got down to 5 a day Sad recently someone gave her the Allen Carr book and she hasn't had a cigarette since January Grin

Good luck & congratulations on your pregnancy Smile

Thank you very much! :)
It sounds like this Allen Carr thing is defineatly worth a try, however the first time it was mentioned I thought it was about that funny, chubby gay comedian. Lol

Tbh, when I posted this. I thought I was going to have all sorts shouted at me for not immediately quitting. :/

If you ask your GP or midwives you will be given all sorts of free support, including cessation groups, and every product under the sun if you need them. There's no better time to give up than when pregnant.

Ladyintheradiator: I have had this since I was around 11, been pestering my Gp since then with not much done. Eventually had a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia which is BS and was only given this because after multiple blood tests they couldn't figure out what it was. Finally when I found out I was pg I asked my Gp to re-refer me to rheumatology for query EDS, which she did but I don't see them to next week. Since then I have had all sorts of problems. I can barely walk because of pain in my hips, it's excruciating. Just hoping that something will be done next week at Rhem.
I'm sorry to hear you had to suffer in silence. (It's got to the point with me if they don't listen I will make sure they hear me) Did everything else go okay?

Bibbity: I have told my midwife how I am feeling about smoking and she said over a month ago she would refer me to the smoking cessation, along with mental health for anxiety. Haven't heard anything back from anyone and just feel helpless. :(

Strawberry - I am an ex-smoker. If anyone had suggested I could stop smoking I would have laughed in derision, might as well stop breathing. Smoked through no money, got dog-ends out of the bin to re-roll them, smoked 1st thing every day, with or without bronchitis, you get the picture; I SMOKED. Then I went on NHS course via the GP, 1st attempt failed due to overconfidence (just 1 at Xmas - Ha!) 2nd attempt worked. I'm now annoyed I can't have one occasionally for a treat; makes me ill now. The NHS course will give you your choice of nicotine replacement and a support group. Have a try, it might work for you too. Talk to GP and ante-natal. Good luck!
