Child Scratched

My child was scratched at her pre-school today by another child! My DP had to sign the accident book, to acknowledge what happened to our little one. When he got home he had a look at the scratches and there were quite a few, and you could tell it was no accidental scratch! When DP goes back tomorrow does he bring it up with ladies who look after the children? If so,what does he say? I thought he could ask them if this child is prone to doing this, and to keep an eye out to make sure it doesn't happen again. Or I'm going over the top? What would you do?

Once they get to 2.5/3 it all becomes immaterial anyway as they can tlell you who hurt them

I'm not sure being put on the time out bench is really enough, is it?!

I'd call the police if I were you.

they can geordie. but the STAFF shouldn't.

shaz's point is interesting - i often advise parents of children who are doing the hurting to appeal to the victim's parents to complain to the school (in instances where sn is involved and support is not being provided/ is inadequate). i would only ever resort to this (discussion with other parents) as a desperate last resort though. you really do want to let the staff deal with it unless there is serious risk of danger to life or limb (ie children throwing desks/ chairs/ instances where classrooms are regularly evacuated for the protection of peers/ teachers in case of meltdown etc)

anyway. a scratch or two in a nursery should largely be ignored by a parent as long as procedures are being followed.
