Long hall flight with 2 little ones-any thoughts??

I am considering a trip to Australia next year - my little ones will be 16 months and 3.5yrs old, If we don't go before the 2nd one is 2 (and free) i doubt we'll ever be able to afford it. However i am very concerned about how we would manage them for such a long time - esp as they can't lie down to sleep, has anyone else done this? are there any good tips? Are the airlines helpful?
thanks

That will be quite hard work but if you just grit your teeth and do it, you'll survive. You can put one to sleep on the floor-not really meant to but I always do.

Go Emirates-inflight enertainment is excellent, seats a bit bigger, staff really nice. Best airline I've ever travelled with.

ds was 3.5, he was great. We did two night flights to get there and he slept (curled in his seat) for 90% of the time. Singapore Airlines are great and my dcs would happily have spent the whole holiday in Changi Airport.

I've done UK to NZ on my own many times with 2 DDs. It's long and tiring but they have managed OK. They usually end up curling up like cats and sleeping in a squashed position. We had a bank of three seats to put up the arm rests and both of them put their legs over me (not comfy for me, mind!). The inflight entertainment keeps them amused for chunks of time.

Changi airport is indeed brilliant and that is why I always fly Singapore Airlines.

IME your younger child will be more difficult to manage due to thier age.

I started stockpiling a bag of small 'new' toys from charity shops or poundland etc which I would produce every couple of hours to keep their attention. Sticker books helpful. Sweets etc we had 24 hours of junk food which was highly unusual but necessary!!
