dd attends and after school sports club. She has been going for over a year and loves it. Today she told me she doesn't want to go anymore. It turns out that she had some problems yesterday with another child. (namecalling, elbowing etc) Obviously I don't know exactly what happened as dd is only 6 and I know you can't always treat what they say as gospel. However, if what dd said is true other child was given a time out by sports coach. I was wondering whether you think sports coach should have mentioned it upon collection and should I request that they are kept apart during group work in future.

Not really, I'd think it would be mentioned if your child had the time out (but only if it was repetitive)

& if you are going to stop her working every time someone has time out due to an altercation with her, she will have a very lonely time at school.

I'd leave it for now TBH. The coach dealt with it and mostly with kids' fallings out it's least said, soonest mended.

Just keep an eye out and if a pattern of unkind behaviour develops then have a chat.

Thank you. I guess I am just being a little overprotective as she is my only child. She did say that other little girl had made comments before but Tuesday was much worse.

It would be a shame for your DD to have to miss out on the sports club due to someone else's behaviour. How about she goes again, but reassure her that if the namecalling continues you'll have a word with the coach and say she's even thought of leaving because of the other girl's behaviour.
