In the middle of December when the weather was bloody horrible I was in a slow moving queue of traffic when the taxi driver in front of me suddenly braked, and unfortunately when I braked I must have hit a patch of ice or something because I slid into him. Obviously we both got out to inspect the damage, there was a small crack to my number plate, but apparantly no damage to his car.

We parted without exchanging insurances etc, and I thought that would be it......move on 2 months and I am now getting messages on my answer phone from an insurance co saying I have been named as the 3rd party in an accident claim.

Am so bloody hacked off, am currently ignoring the messages but I know that wont last for ever, we are skint so could really do without yet another drain on my resources.

why does it seem that everyone is out to get what they can, honest or not?

But by being an ostrich you're making it worse.

If you speak to the insurance company you can find out exactly what has been said and refute the claim if it's untrue.

By ignoring the phone calls it makes you look guilty of something.

I presume from your comments you're not fully comp.??

No I am fully comp, but will have to pay the excess and deal with next years inflated insurance premium when I have lost my no claims bonus.

I know I need to deal with it, but am just bloody annoyed at the moment. dont have a leg to stand on really if he claims to have wiplash etc etc

Just cant get past thinking that everyone is out to make a buck out of you.

Why are you annoyed if it's a genuine claim?

He could have found some damage when he got home. By the time he contacted his insurer, done DVLC search, etc two months can easily go by.

There's no point winding yourself up imagining what ifs, just phone them and find out.

Maybe he does have whiplash? Someone went into the back of me 2 days ago at fairly low speed though there is a lot of damage to my car from his 4x4. I have whiplash, didn't start till a few hours after the accident. I'm in pain, off work, been to a&e for x-rays, going to physio today, on diazepam.

Plus someone once did this to DH and DH thought there was no damage to his car so didn't even bother taking details of the person who went into the back of him. Turned out there was over £200 of damage to his car.

I think you need to stop burying your head in the sand and be honest and own up to it.

DH had a similar shunt a few years ago when someone went into the back of his car. Like Viva 's DH he though there was no damage to his car so didn't bother to take details - in fact when my brother had a look he said the car's chassis was significantly shorter than it had been - it took about £800 off its value.
