Hi, My aunt has been kind enough to arrange to take 3 other adult relations of mine and 4 children to disney land paris for the birthday of my little cousin who will be 3, also the age of my daughter. However, this is for 4 days and i dont know if i can cope being without my daughter for that period of time especially in a different country. I have been worrying like mad since my aunt booked it and not sure i want her to go, what would you do???

why she not taking oyu? I would not let my 3 year old go abroad without me or her father for 4 days

of course! as long as ur aunty is responsible i wouldnt want them to miss out on the experience!

I'd happily pay a family member to take my dc to Disney! But NOT at 3 - far too young without me. Wouldn't want that until at least 6 or so.

She is only taking the grandmothers so thats why im not going. Not in a great financial position at the moment but i will do anything to be with her. I feel like im intruding but at the same time she is my daughter and i dont want to miss the look on her little face, it would be priceless.

Apart from a few of you everyone has been saying im being too over protective not to want her to go without me etc, all whom are also mothers. Dont understand. I though i was being the unreasonable one but thanks you have all made me feel that bit better :)

It sounds like a great adult to child ratio so I'm sure they will look after her just fine and that she'll have a brilliant time.

If you can't afford to go/take her, I think it's actually a bit selfish to stop her going just so you can see the look on her face. Save up and take her again when she's 5/6 it wont be any less Magical for her because she has been before, it will be like seeing it for the first time all over again - a totally different experience at 3 & at 5/6.

I know you will miss out - but what's worse - her missing out or you missing out? Don't get me wrong, I'd feel like you do!! but I'd put her pleasure first over mine.

Louii · 19/01/2011 20:46

At 3, no way would I let her go without me.

Jodalina1 · 19/01/2011 20:49

I have though about that too but at the same time, ive shown her pics on the internet and made a big deal out about it when the adverts are on TV and explained to her she will have fun with Grandma, her aunty and her cousins. She asked if me and dadddy were going, and went in a little strop when we told her no.

Its not that i dont trust who is taking her, i know they would guard her with their life, but its a big big place and soo busy.

Me and her daddy are getting married next year and are going to disneyland in florida for our honeymoon and taking her obviously, as i could not be without her, so would it be so wrong to wait the year??

Her missing out is definitley the worst case over me, but being her mummy i want to be the one to share her first everything with her???

I wouldn't let my 3yo go that far without me. But I would also pay a passing stranger to take her to DLP when she's older. Anything that gets me out of having to endure it.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 20/01/2011 09:31

I would let my DD go without hesitation. you are taking her to a bigger one next year.
I would make sure you send a letter with the adult giving permission for her to enter and leave the countries though.

elliephant · 20/01/2011 09:54

I would let my DD go, as long as I was confident that she would be well looked after .

She will be with her Grand Mother ( if I 've read your post correctly), other responsible adults family members and her cousins. Its seems like a lovely family trip .

Your DD will have a lovely time, spend time with older adults who will not be around for ever and have a nice time playing with cousins. The adults in the party will probably relish this special trip with their grand children. Don't deny them the memories.

It won't take away from your trip next year, your DD will probably enjoy it even more as she will be that bit older and it will be different.

It's all about your DD, remember. Smile

I did let my DS go, with my DB and SIL who also took a nephew from her family.

We, unfortunately, have never had enough time/money to take him again or the other DC at all.

They then had their own DC and were not able to take anyone else.

I was so pleased for him to go and just thought "what an opportunity".

Incidentally, my DC have never been upset at going away or staying anywhere without us. I asked them why, and they said that we had always told them that they would have a fantastic time and so they did.

I hope you do manage to let your DD go. Make sure that your aunt takes loads of photos so that your DD can tell you all about it afterwards.
