ds1 (5) said told me thisevening about one time daddy took him and ds2 out in the car, stopped the car and then made it go round in circles making lots of dust and a very loud noise. i know this was 'do'nutting' (not sure if that's how it is spelt) because this used to be one of EXp's favourite hobbies, going out in his car with friends and leaving rings on the road. i thought he would at least have the wit not to do it with his children in the car but it seems not. ds says there wasn't anyone else in the car when he did it so he wasn't showing off to his mates he was actually doing this as entertainment for his children. i don't want him doing this. i don't want my children thinking this is a normal thing to do when you have a car. should i ring him and tell him it isn't to happen again? or should i wait until i see him again (xmas)? i don't think i can let this go. WWYD?

I don't think I'd be able to let it go either - he sounds like a complete eejit. Yes, I think you should call or email - but maybe do a bit of research first. It might not be enough to say you don't like it - if you have some stats re how dangerous it is that may bring the point home better.

yes that's what i was thinking hassled. i don't even know if it's illegal or not. but even so. it's just not something you do with a 5 yr and 17 month old in the car. i am expecting him to tell me to take the poker out of my arse after he finishes denying it. it will be hard not to get cross with him.

Contact him. Do not leave it until christmas (you will just stew until then and it will not make for fun festivities). I know that it's hard, but just stick to the point, tell him you know he did it and that he is never to do it again. Also tell him to keep his childish insults and behaviour to himself as you have no intention of indulging them or having your children witnessing them.

What a fuckwit.

i phoned him. of course he denied it. eventually admitted he might have sped off froma juction a bit quickly causing ds1's booster seat to fly forward and ds to slip down onto the main seat Shock. which i totally believed happened aswell because i know what he is like. i am so angry with him. i held my temper and and asked him if he felt pretty stupid because he came across as pretty bloody stupid after admitting that. he grumbled a few noises about "right well I've said what happened, what more is there to say" i stressed that he was welcome to take as many risks as he liked when he was alone but never ever to do it with the dcs in the car. he spent about a minute in silence before i ended the call. immature twat.

Good for you.

BTW, when my Ex behaves like a twat, I call him throughout the week whenever I would feel angry about his actions. This was totally unlike me as during our relationship I was quite the opposite.

When I did call him to rant, he would say something along the lines of "look, I thought that we'd said everything that needed to be said about this". I would reply that while I was still feeling angry, I would call him and let him know because it was his fault and that I would do this everytime he fucked up. He rarely fucks up now.

It's called doughnut-ing (because it makes a doughnut shape on the road). It's illegal - reckless driving - if it's on a public road. You can lose your license if you're caught (that's not to say that you will lose your license, but depending on the situation you can.
