Title says it all. I have a child free hour today - what shall I do? What's more I am going to have a couple of days this week where I have a child-free afternoon (1.30 -4). I am practically giddy with excitement! [saddo emoticon] What shall I do with this precious free time?

Go to a salon and have a nice pedicure and foot/leg massage.

Go to a movie you want to see.

Have lunch/tea with a friend - child free so you can talk properly.

I would either sleep
or do nothing at home
or have lunch/tea with a friend.

gym
cup of tea

  • Go for a run
  • Go clothes shopping
  • Have a manicure
  • Sip afternoon tea in a posh cafe with a magazine
  • Go to a child friendly venue and relax in the sound of other parents having to tend to their children

Long hot bath with a good book...

When I had a toddler and baby at home and only very occasionally had any time to myself, I used to take myself to a cafe, buy a newspaper, a coffee and a muffin and sit and read. It used to be such a tonic.

Read the paper with a coffee.

1 hour is not long enough to go out imo.

Go to an art gallery, library, cathedral or something and...just...sit... No "get down off that", no "leave your sister alone", no funny looks, no constantly looking for toilets, drinks, hazards, etc.

bliss.

Go to the cinema on my own.

Go to an art museum.

Have lunch with a pal.

Take a hike or a long walk if in an urban area.

fab ideas... will definitely do some of those (may have to be a DIY foot spa treatment though, lol)

I'm slightly worried Iwouldn't make it to cinema and back in time to pick up kids but I plan to:

Tomorrow - do a bit of shopping and finish with a quiet hot chocolate and reading paper (taking a 2 and 4 year old clothes shopping is a flipping nightmare but I desperately need some new clothes!)

Wednesday - lunch with a friend and walk round the countryside if weather is nice (if I can find a child-free friend - most of my friends round here seem to have kids of their own)

Friday - sleep, ahhhh

Right now I'm sitting on my massage chair with my feet soaking in a lemon-grass infused bowl of warm water, bliss!

Thanks for helping me plan my week!

Go shopping for clothes / shoes for yourself

Long bath with bubbles

Do something hobby-ish - cook something fancy that you want to make, do something crafty

Sit in a park, alone, with a book/magazine
