Lego for a (nearly) 10 year old girl?

Would your daughter like one of the Lego kits at this age?
I am looking at them and even selecting an age of 12, the kits seem to be very simple…..but then I’m not 10!
Looking for something for a 10 year old who already has too much of everything. I rarely get feedback from previous gifts, so no idea if I’m way off the mark or not. Any ideas welcome, looking to spend £20/ £30 tops.

I think the issue with simplicity is probably that you will be looking at the smaller sets in the price range.

My nearly 10 DD still likes Lego, Harry Potter or Minecraft. I did look into getting some Technic for her as I think she'd like that but it's all fast cars or construction vehicles. You can't even buy a tub of bits

Geomag is another thing she plays with.

I was going to suggest the owl too, because even if you aren't a big HP fan making a moving owl might appeal. And I'm all for encouraging girls to build because otherwise they fall behind boys in ability just due to lack of practice. It's £25 in b&m.

Agree with a op that there is nothing simple about the larger sets so you are probably looking at smaller ones which will inevitably be easier unless it's the landmark ones. Most 10 year olds can manage the 12 and 16 ones with a bit of help every now and then though

The majority of 10 year olds will still enjoy lego. Harry Potter would probably be the biggest hit lego range wise. Or Lego technic, you need a few sets to build up a simple collection. So it's a good thing to add to / start.
They'd probably also enjoy a little sewing kit (if she doesn't have one) and a book to make clothes for their dolls.

At that price range I'd recommend the Hedwig or Fawkes sets (as already mentioned), the mini Disney Castle if shes a Disney fan, or maybe an Achitecture set if you can get a good deal. There's also the Botanical sets but not sure on their prices.

Theres are also the Brickheadz pets, if there's one that matches her own pet or she likes animals!

(Also... a lit of people, me included, have got a big fondness for the lizard from Frozen (Burni?). But its a very simple build.)

My 9yo recently completed the knight bus (harry potter). Took her 3 evenings, probably 40mins each evening. She enjoyed it very much and the bus has play value too once built.

Does she like Lego?

My DS was never into Lego, generous family and friends frequently gave him Lego for gifts but he never played with it ... it all went to charity shops .

I would always ask the parents for suggestions before spending that amount of money .. or give cash? My DS loved cash ... he chose something he really wanted or saved ... he's got a very healthy bank balance now which is very useful as a Uni student.
