Following. LEDs are too bright. I’ve always been hankering after old fashioned warm coloured lights.

OhTheRoses · 25/04/2020 22:06

Would they pass H&S regs.

BrandoraPaithwaite · 25/04/2020 22:18

Are you me?? I adore these lights and are the only ones I allow. I haven't been able to get the flower petal style ones but got the spiky style ones from a cheapo place a few years ago, might have been pound stretcher.
They blew up this year just gone so now I'm
back to square one.

I have these, no flowery shades, but remind me of fairy lights when I was a child in the 80s.Smile

Fuckinellitsme · 26/04/2020 19:20

I have 4 boxes of the ones Raven linked to. They're beautiful but the bulbs to go quickly - which is why I've bought so many (one box is for spare bulbs). Totally worth it.

Spied · 26/04/2020 19:23

Oh I love them. That top petal set we're on my childhood tree!

Paperyfish · 26/04/2020 19:28

Like these?

They’re called pickwick fairy lights and I got some a few years running (because they don’t last long at all) from a site called UK Christmas World but they don’t seem to have them now - maybe they’ll get some more closer to Christmas? Googling pickwick fairy lights brings some up on eBay and Amazon though.

SirVixofVixHall · 26/04/2020 19:38

I also hate LEDs. Too bright, and the wrong colours. They make me feel a bit migrainey.
I am watching with interest. I do have some old ones that I have hung on to.

InglouriousBasterd · 26/04/2020 19:44

Following because I need to replace ours!

Dinosaurfood · 26/04/2020 20:33

I've been looking for lantern ones for ages..

ParadiseLaundry · 26/04/2020 20:36

I started a thread on this a few years ago. They have to have pink ones! Most of them don't.

RunSoICanEatCheese · 04/05/2020 13:40

Yes they need to have pink in them! My lovely Nan gave me her’s last year, they feel wonderfully nostalgic.

yellowbluebell · 04/05/2020 13:41

I LOVE those lights!!! I could have written your post OP!

SirVixofVixHall · 04/05/2020 16:54

They do HAVE to have that particular pink as well as red.
I have found my people ! 😀

WinterAndRoughWeather · 21/05/2020 00:00

I have three sets of exactly these lights (the top ones with the plastic petals). I bought them from a Christmas shop in Cambridge in 2005 I think, before LEDs became ubiquitous. Blue, green, pink and amber. They’re still going strong, and no, you may not have them OP.

peachgreen · 21/05/2020 00:05

Following with interest! I found a short set with lanterns in our local garden centre two years ago but I really want a flowery set for the tree!

peachgreen · 21/05/2020 00:08

Just bought a set of those Amazon ones because they have the holy grail of red and pink!!

noraclavicle · 21/05/2020 00:18

On sale here too

campion · 21/05/2020 00:40

I got Noma Pickwick Lights from Amazon about 3 years ago. They're fab , so warm and pretty - though they do rather gobble up spare bulbs(!). It looks like they're not available on most websites now so maybe they're not being made. Perhaps eBay?
I agree about the LED ones. They're too bright.

I have various traditional strings both coloured and warm white which I patiently unravel every Christmas , hold my breath, curse, find spare bulbs etc. All part of the festive tradition in our house!

But sorry OP - not for sale Grin

Mythica · 21/05/2020 21:29

Noma still make the pickwick lights and the Canterbury bells. You can get them on Amazon and Ebay.
Also Ebay has loads of vintage sets nearer to Christmas - including lanterns.
Spare bulbs also available from some sellers.
