Have I hurt my foot?

Hi! I’m sure you have many things that are of a much deeper concern so I am sorry to take up your time but my foot was crushed by a horse a week ago and I was wondering if I should do something about it. It swelled up a lot instantly but after a couple of days went down but not fully. Most of the foot is rather bruised and purple except a couple of toes are whiter and tingle. If I follow the bones of the ring and middle toes to the middle ish of my foot, there is a little lump, especially if I try to pull my toes back towards me. It is red/purple over the lump and white surrounding it. It feels fuzzy and my whole foot is rather cold, especially those toes and around the little lump. It doesn’t hurt that much when I walk and I have been able to go about my day as usual and I am very active. Just wondering if it will fix itself as I am very busy and don’t have time to rest it. Thank you!!

It looks like you may have broken a small bone. The colour is a bit worrying.

Off to A&E or walk in centre for an X ray I'd say. I really think you need it looking at because if the blood supply is affected you could end up with worse outcomes. Feet have lots of very small bones and it's likely one has been broken.

You going to have to make time to have this looked at. If the blood supply is damaged you could end up losing toes.

Well, yes, you have obviously hurt it.

only an x ray will tell whether you have broken any bones, but at a minimum that’s a lot of soft tissue damage.

it may or may not fix itself.

The bit of your leg we can see looks all mottled too.

Are you too busy to ensure that you have full use of your foot for the rest of your life?

Yes, it does look like you’ve broken something. The temperature and sensation changes are significant.

Go to A&E. Do you really want to risk losing function?

Just go and get an x ray. There's no way of knowing if you've got a fracture without an x ray.

Even if there isn't a fracture, soft tissue damage can take a long time to heal and cause a great deal of pain and swelling. The soft tissue injury I had to my food was far worse than many fractures.
