I know people might not care but when I was trying to decide between a repeat caesarean and a VBAC, I wished I’d had someone to ask all of my questions!

Following. I have had 6 vaginal deliveries but daughter had CS after a 29 hour labour and is not sure what to do next time. Big baby, got stuck and went onto distress, she is being encouraged to have a CS next time.
Thank you for this.

@Kittylickingplate as nobody else seems interested, feel free to ask any questions you have 😂

Thank you!
Were you encouraged/discouraged to try again VBAC?
May I ask why a CS was necessary? I am not being rude, my poor daughter was so sore and I felt for her. A CS is certainly not an 'easy' way out!

I'm interested, as someone who attempted VBAC 13 years ago and ended up with a uterine rupture and a General anaesthetic!

Did you choose VBAC or was it your consultant's idea? Were the hospital supportive or dismissive? Did it all go well? Would you do it again?

@Kittylickingplate that sounds very stressful for your daughter, I hope she’s okay? Is she leaning towards a repeat section or vaginal delivery?

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads that sounds very traumatic, I hope you recovered okay and your lovely baby was alright too!

I had a section because me and baby were both septic. Baby was malpositioned, and I’d been in active labour for 60 hours, but kept refusing a section because I didn’t think there was anything “wrong” other than her position. When they told me we were both very unwell, it was 4 minutes from decision to incision. I was 8cm dilated (although my cervix was swelling so it appeared to be closing).

This time was very smooth; 4 hours from the first contraction to baby being born! I won’t have a third, but if I did I would try for another vaginal delivery.

My community midwife was incredibly supportive, but consultants were definitely less so. I didn’t speak to a consultant until I was 36 weeks (not sure why), and as soon as I said I wanted to try for a VBAC she started telling me it would be “much easier for everyone” if I had a repeat section. I refused to book an elective section or an induction, and she booked me to have twice weekly meetings with her until the baby was born. I didn’t attend the meetings, however had I gone to 41 weeks, I’d have agreed to induction. I felt very much like the consultant was eager to avoid any risk, which is understandable, but I think she should have been more respectful of the decision I’d made and not try to talk me out of it (repeatedly!)
