I'm bored on the sofa and can't settle on anything so feel free to ask me whatever you like.
I have been planning for around 9 months after a large weight loss and a truly disastrous stomach and boobs. Happy to be as honest as I can.

Ooh, I've lost 2 stone and have another to go at least. May I ask if you weigh less now the extra skin has been taken away?

I wish you a smooth recovery and hope you are thrilled.

I'm so jealous.

I've lost 7 stone and boobs are down to my knees and my belly is awful.

I can't get the procedure though :(

I hope you're super happy with the results.

Hey badsnips, thanks for the kind comment - 7 stone weight loss is amazing! How did you do it?

I hear if you're younger or better genetic makeup it can really improve over time. For me I knew my tummy was a disaster post pregnancy anyway (and that was umpteen years ago) so unlikely to really get much better for me.

Good question and I am actually keen to know this - The surgeon said because it was just thin skin with no fat attached, it only weighed about kilo - but he showed me the pic and it looked like an enormous amount.

I'm very swollen but I'll weigh myself in the morning and report back

@TummyTuckNameChange huge congrats on the weight loss and I wish you a quick recovery. Please may I ask what a normal day would consist of food wise when you were dieting and using Myfitness pal. I need some inspiration with the meal side of things x

Nousernamesleftatall · 09/12/2023 21:13

How long were you under for?

riotlady · 09/12/2023 21:22

Sorry if too nosy but how did you fund it? Did you have savings or are there finance options?

WelshFionaThePlasticSurgeryGorgon · 09/12/2023 21:31

What was your starting weight ?

Elfnsafetyhat · 09/12/2023 21:37

Thats so amazing well done! I’d strongly recommend some therapy to help support your new eating habits in the long term, if you aren’t already signed up to some.

DappledOliveGroves · 09/12/2023 21:42

Can I ask how you chose your surgeon? I’m thinking about a TT but want to make sure it’s done by someone reputable.

Calling · 09/12/2023 21:46

What are your tips for keeping the weight off?

salamirose · 09/12/2023 21:47

TummyTuckNameChange · 09/12/2023 20:50

thanks cheeky! that's so great to know
tutti very encouraged by your words as well

salami, yes infection worries me a lot. They gave preventative antibiotics after the op. now just trying to keep my dressings covered and dry. This is a big part of why i wanted to be in the UK. I know if I had to get checked out I can be back at the hosptial in 30 mins and they have told me to call them for literally anything (I was onto them last night with questions about painkillers)

My nurse has been very serious about taking it easy and making sure I don't overdo it, little bit terrified of her so I want to make sure she's happy when I go back for checks 😂

Thank you. All the best

Congrats on the weight loss and your bravery going under the knife.

How many calories were you on a day? I track religiously through MyFitnessPal and only see weightloss if I go down to 800 a day.

I've lost 4 stone so far but it's been years and soul-destroying with the trying to keep to as low an intake as possible to at least keep it off.

The only good thing is that it's taking me so long I think I can get my savings to the point of paying for a boob job. Though I've watched the price rise quite a bit over the years, too.

Again, congrats and good luck keeping infections at bay.

Morewineplease10 · 09/12/2023 22:41

Does it make you thinner and have a more defined waist? How low is the scar?

Would it completely get rid of a c section overhang? I'm not overweight but my tummy has not recovered post kids although I wouldn't say the skin is loose really.

I'm 40 with 4 kids so definitely not going to improve.

I had a gastric sleeve!

ssd · 09/12/2023 23:16

I bet you'll look great op.

StBrides · 10/12/2023 10:13

TummyTuckNameChange · 09/12/2023 20:39

yeah can report that my bits have been pulled upwards. not sure what'll happen when the swelling goes down but pretty happy about that!

I don't know what to think about that but the important thing is that you're happy with the results and heal well Flowers

sorry for being away for a while, we did a marathon movie sofa day, my friend has left so I'm on my own for the night...

normal day - i just eat what i consider normal but I track calories to make sure I'm not overeating, so I would have a sandwich or a pasta salad for lunch but keep it under 500 cals, veg with protein for dinner again about 5-600 which leaves 100 odd for drinks. I have fit all sorts in - pizza, takeaways, treats. For me, not having sweet things helps my will power, and I don't usually get hungry in the morning.
I really think trying to make myself eat different kinds of foods wasn't sustainable for me and the boringly realistic answer was to eat the same stuff but just with a cut off. I find it helpful to weigh things to be precise.

I love knowing that if I don't exceed a certain number i'll make progress.

I had half in savings and the rest is an interest free loan which I'm hoping to pay down quickly - it's 600 odd a month for the finance bit for 12 months. YOu can spread over longer than 12 months with them but then it starts costing interest.

over 13 stone, I know some people who really suit a little extra weight but I am not one of those people.

What are your tips for keeping the weight off?

I think I've had to accept that I just can't go back to uncontrolled eating, because my body wants me to eat more than I should.

I have to keep a tight rein on it forever. for me that means tracking every day, writing down everything that goes in my mouth. If I overeat one day, I write it down honestly.

I've had weeks where it's hard and I've gone over every day but the tracking helps me get it back in control.

I lost weight before and messed up by thinking i was done and could stop 'dieting', no surprises when I started over eating again and it went back on

thank you! I am on 1200 a day which is giving me very very slow weightloss but still going.

I've seen it said a lot that lifting heavy weights and building muscle can help you raise your BMR (the amount you burn without doing any exercise) and give you more calories to play with. When I'm able to get back to it I hope to try that

Good luck and well done, you must be so determined!

I'm swollen at the moment and in a rather attratcive compression bandage but I do think I look smaller, definitely the muscle repair that they do (and almost all tummy tucks include this) cinches you in like an internal corset. the side on view doesn't look like me - it's actually flat - i've never had that in my life

My scar is hip to hip. low down, so will be hidden by pants, and in the centre goes down to the hairline. My surgeon said he prefers to do it like this. I have seen some on tummy tuck groups whose scar seems very high so it's worth checking with each surgeon where they would want to put it.

OP posts:
TummyTuckNameChange · 10/12/2023 21:26

sorry morewineplease - didn't answer your second question - yes I think it probably good do that. they are basically taking out a wedge of skin from just above your belly button down to your hip bones so if your c-section overhang is part of that it might do - they would look at this as part of a consultation.

the first stage I had to do was booking a consult. this meant taking my clothes off in front of the surgeon, with a chaperone, so he could see what i thought the problem area was and whether I was a candidate (and if so which type of surgery)
there are three types of standard tummy tuck - one is a mini where they just remove a little hanging skin. With an extended TT, they go above the belly button (you keep your belly button but they reattach it to the skin they have stretched down) and usually do muscle repair if you need it for separated stomach muscles. With more loose skin some people qualify for a fleur de lis which is where they also make an incision vertically and pull the two sides together, although of course that means you have a long more visible scar.

thank you, for me it's a positive thing as the weight loss meant the mons area was looking slack and saggy - not nice, sorry. but looks more 'normal' now.
