I've only just left my position due to a relocation, but wondered if anyone had any questions!

Worst times to shop, best time for a click and collect, anything behind the scenes :)

Why are the people on the tills ALWAYS talking in to a headset when serving! It's like they are doubling up in a contact centre

I answered this upthread but basically we do need to communicate with colleagues and managers a hell of a lot; the head sets are vital! Discussing missing price codes, re-merching, updating where we are in delivery, monitoring queues, suspicious customers, loads of things. We multi task on shift and often have a few things to sort while also being called on and off a till so the headsets help a lot.

Though our store had a good policy that the headsets were for work related convo, and not too much non-work chat.

Sometimes talking into a headset is unavoidable even when you're serving but they should still say hello :)

I actually find the Aldi till thing better than other supermarkets who actually feel more rushed. It's a throwback to the days when staff packed for you.

I've done a few till surveys for the staff on the receipt. Did you (or colleagues) ever get either general or particular feedback from those , op?

Yes we can see the comments from those reviews as we have a unique cashier number from each receipt.

It would make our day to get positive feedback! The different Aldi stores were in 'competition' to see who could get the most. I did regularly get positive comments which was lovely.

It's changed very recently though and we don't push those receipt reviews anymore - customers now select an answer to a question which appears at random on the card machine.

Why don't Aldi staff water the plants on sale? I went yesterday and there were many pots of dead viola and pansies, also large rhododendrons in deep bud but nearly dead. I bought a rhododendron and rescued it, it's fine this morning having been soaked in water overnight but it was very sad looking in store.

The bread being at the tills does irritate me. Most of us buy bread regularly and for it to be where people queue is really silly imo. I am regularly asked to move so that people can reach across and I have to do the same if there's a queue and I need bread.

Also does it irritate staff if customers ask if they've just come into work or what time they are leaving? I don't hold up the queue, but chat to the cashier (not a long winded chat). The lovely young man on the till yesterday said he loved his friendly customers but I did wonder. We just said the sun being out was so lovely but he liked to walk in rain.

I love my Aldi, the staff are lovely.

The plants do suffer sometimes sadly as sometimes there's just no time to do it - and I do think it's a bit 'out of sight out of mind - do mention it to staff if you think the plants look particularly sad and someone might be glad of a reason to go outside for a minute to do it!

ANY chat is more than welcome that's lovely you ask start/end times! I loved customers like yourself that just chit chatted, it makes a world of difference. :)
