Pip tribunal

I had my pip tribunal last week still haven't had a decision and was wanting to see if anyone else had to wait on a decision. I feel the call went well in between my panic and tears when having to explain myself and needs. It's a very long stressful process

I hope you're holding up ok, and have availed yourself of the success statistics.

Did the tribunal ask any questions that unsettled or rattled you?

Ladycrazy · 16/08/2021 20:35

Yes they did when they asked how my mental health affects me that's when I broke down. Told them every wee detail and if my partner wasn't here how hard it would be to even look after my children. I have fibromyalgia which the gp now thinks is wrong and sending me for brain scans and have battled mental health issues from I was 15

I hope your ok after the experience Flowers
I have Bipolar Type 1, my mental health nurse has done the majority of it for me. I was awarded 0 points as I was able to have a baby at the hospital LOL, one of the reasons given. I am currently at MR stage. How long did it take for you to get to tribunal after the MR? And how long did it take for a decision for the MR?
Thankyou xx

Ladycrazy · 16/08/2021 20:40

My decision for MR took just over a week then I wait around 6 months for tribunal that was then adjourned as they wanted letters off my new appointment referrals then around another 3 moths for new tribunal date. I was awarded 0 points then after MR I was awarded 4 points for living and 4 for mobility

I think 75% of tribunal appeals are currently successful, in that some sort of award or increased award is given. Fingers crossed.

It's one of the reason the government is starting the long expensive process of overhauling the whole thing.

You were incredibly brave and well done for going through it. Give yourself time to recover from the ordeal.

Rainyx · 17/08/2021 07:06

Oh wow a week?! Im on week 6 so far!
As a pp has said you are incredibly brave, ive found the process so far nothing but stressful and a horrendous experience. Well done for going all the way and not giving up xx

Ladycrazy · 17/08/2021 09:42

Thank you i was so close on giving up but but my local MLA who has been helping said not to as this is why they do it and make it so hard that in

Went to tribunal and won before just before covid hit so it was face to face it's so stressful I've nothing to ask but want to wish you luck and hope it works out for you.

SpindleWhorl · 17/08/2021 09:49

Yes, I think they do hope that people give up - like it's built into the system.

PIP was supposed to reduce the overall disability benefits bill, but it's costing £billions more each year because of the administration. So predictable.

I'll be glad if they do properly overhaul the system, but meantime this is what people have got to deal with. The endless stress, the upset, the waiting ... Horrible system.

Best of luck, OP Flowers

Thats what my Mental health nurse told me also. I rang them this morning and they told me they haven't even recieved my MR. Ive waited 6 weeks for nothing. I applied back in feb. I dont understand why they do this to people

Ladycrazy · 17/08/2021 12:42

I have just received my award letter was standard daily living and high rate mobility. It feels like a huge weight has just been lifted. So anyone reading this please please don't give up it's a very hard long process but you will get there. The system is shocking how people are treated especially with mental health issues

You must be so relieved good for you power through all the shite you had to it's a horrendous process. Flowers

SpindleWhorl · 17/08/2021 13:00

Well done!

How long is your award for, @Ladycrazy? My DSS, who has ASD and many other challenges which will never go away, ever, has a three year award, following a previous three award - the treadmill of renewals is just a crazy waste of everyone's time, money and resources.

But we know better now how to keep on top of renewal preparation, what paperwork to seek out and keep, what magic words to say in the renewal claim.

Ladycrazy · 17/08/2021 14:31

I was awarded 3 years.

I'm currently going through the renewal process now. Got a text yesterday saying they have received the forms. I'm worried too. I've had two more diagnoses added since my first one

I was diagnosed with bipolar in early 2019, and managed to get standard daily living first time without a tribunal or anything. Although there were a few lies in the report. Said I went alone, which was false. That annoyed me. But that's another thread. I also have ADHD and joint dysfunction in both my knees, basically my knee caps are off to the side and can be quite painful. Both these were diagnosed late last year/early this year, so had to mention that obviously in my renewal forms

I'm glad you were successful. Must be a massive weight off your shoulders
