Best way to lose weight?

Please. Xx

Is it mostly what you eat or what you do?

I'm guessing that it's what you eat?

What do you eat?

TownHallDesigner · 05/11/2020 22:01

Any advice for someone who has no motivation and feels that they have so much to lose, it’s pointless even trying?

SidneyCasing · 05/11/2020 22:02

Have you lost weight yourself?

EvieRussell · 05/11/2020 22:05

What do find to be the biggest barrier to people losing weight?

RJnomore1 · 05/11/2020 22:07

Have you motivational tips you can share? The pandemic means working from home, no fun to look forward to, my gym classs off, and I know I’m overeating. How do I get my head into it when everything is wrong and my default emotional response is food?

clare8allthepies · 05/11/2020 22:09

Do you always advocate a particular way of eating like low fat, low carb or just calorie deficit and if it varies what makes you decide that it’s the best method for that particular client?

5zeds · 05/11/2020 22:09

Have you ever supported anyone who eats less but DOESN’T lose weight?

Babysharksmom · 05/11/2020 22:10

I have 6 stone to lose. I cannot get motivated. My head is taken up with 3 kids under 4
But I desperately need to. For me and for them
Waiting for the light bulb moment and it's not coming
Any advice or help

NationalShiteYear · 05/11/2020 22:12

I'm really motivated to lose weight, know how to eat healthily, but something stops me. Self sabotage mayhe. I always want to start next week...any tips on getting over this hurdle?

Maria53 · 05/11/2020 22:14

Following!

Cuddling57 · 05/11/2020 22:17

Do you earn a good wage? Are you constantly looking for new clientele or do you have an employer?

HollowTalk · 05/11/2020 22:18

What's your success rate?

mistermagpie · 05/11/2020 22:20

Do I you have an 'aspirational' physique yourself? I ask this because my neighbour is a PT and, well, doesn't look like one. She has struggled to get clients and I have idly wondered if this is a factor. For me I think it would put me off, like going to a hairdresser who doesn't have nice hair.

Clearly this is all very judgemental but there you go!

Maverick66 · 05/11/2020 22:21

I'm so glad you have started this thread elf22.

I have been overweight all my life.
I have lost and gained weight since age of 15.
I'm in my 50's now.
At 49 I was 19st.
I put all I had into it and lost 4.5 stone for my 50th.
4 years later and since January I have gained 3 stone.
I was so motivated now I am just disillusioned and depressed about it all.

Please tell me where do I go from here?

FatGirlShrinking · 05/11/2020 22:29

I have lost 59lb now, at my heaviest I was 18st 5lb. I still have 32lb to go to hit the healthy range and am concerned that it will get harder to keep losing as I get smaller as my calorie allowance will reduce.

What tips do you have for keeping the momentum going as you approach goal and then how do you maintain without feeling like you're on a diet forever.

Oh and this one I'm hoping isn't a weird thing that only I have, but I've always had a big belly and obviously a lot of excess fat, the last week or so my belly fat has gone very soft and fluffy feeling is this a normal stage of weight loss??

Spotsandstars · 05/11/2020 22:30

Have you ever come acrosss a case that has truly stumped you? As in, fitness and activity level good. Eating good but no weight loss?

BabbleBee · 05/11/2020 22:30

What’s your opinion of Slimming World (and others similar?)

elf22 · 05/11/2020 22:35

@nancybotwinbloom
It's 100% what you eat. I have a client who trains like an athlete, extremely intense workouts, 4 hours a day. Before she asked for my help she used to eat way more than her daily calories, a diet with a lot of sugary food. Despite how much training she was doing, she wasn't able to lose any weight, so the saying of "you can't out train a bad diet" is very accurate. Nevertheless, exercise is fantastic for you, for me, it helps me be in a better mindset, and when my mental health is good, it increases my drive to want to eat healthier.

My normal day of eating is:
protein porridge or protein yogurt and some fruit.
Protein shake.
Chicken breast, quinoa, beans, and peas.
Salmon or chicken thighs, rice, veg.
A few times in the week I will have some chocolate, which helps reduce any potential binging.

Can you help a power lifter lose weight without losing muscle or strength?

BrassicaBabe · 05/11/2020 22:41

Excellent timing. I need to share if that's ok! Like shouting into a tunnel!

I'm at my ideal weight. V happy. Run/row/bike 4-6 times a week. Maintain my weight by lazy low carb.

I'm on holiday this week. All bets are off. (I'm an all or nothing kind of girl I'm afraid 🤦🏻‍♀️)

I've put on 8lbs since saturday. ShockShock Went for a run this evening. I can feel every lb!

Holdingtherope · 05/11/2020 22:42

Do you believe in food addiction, I am literally obsessed with food? I'm like a drug addict looking for my next fix and can't break the cycle

nancybotwinbloom · 05/11/2020 22:42

Thank you elf xx

firedragon101 · 05/11/2020 22:44

Do you unpick the psychology of eating?

NameChange84 · 05/11/2020 22:48

I’m an emotional eater and I can’t stick to a diet but currently HATE my body. I just keep starting losing 3lbs then gaining it again.

Any tips for sticking power please?

StartupRepair · 05/11/2020 22:49

What is your view on high cholesterol? How dangerous is it? How related is it to diet?
