Just that really. In the current climate people are getting a view into our day to day job, and what it involves. It's a rainy Saturday and well...AMA!

@EnlightenedOwl Hmm wow.

@EnlightenedOwl

I have a lot to be grateful for. I’m what you’d call a heavy user of the NHS. I thanked the individuals in the teams that have got me through - paediatrics, neurosurgery, neurology, orthopaedics, physio, ENT, thoracic, gastroenterology, mental health.

I have no idea if that includes OP. Nurses, cleaners, doctors, porters and the many others in the NHS aren’t robots and they deserve to be appreciated even anonymously. I’m not saying they are angels, I’ve been at the end of bad nursing/medical care as well and have written on MN about that as well (different Usernames).

But I’ve been safe WFH the last few months and a lot of the NHS haven’t been and aren’t now. A lot of those who are safe frequently work long unsociable hours. Some of the reports that the medical secretaries type up are truly horrible (eg child protection).

Thanks is not enough - pushing the government to improve things, being careful how I look after my body as far as I can to reduce the burden I am, knowing when to use the GP, pharmacy etc.

@AluckyEllie sorry I ranted on your thread

jitterbugintomybrain · 05/07/2020 01:08

Thank you for all you do.

Would you go on holiday this summer, abroad, traveling by plane, knowing all you do about this terrible virus?

labyrinthloafer · 05/07/2020 07:28

Pretty depressing mentality if you can't be grateful for ICU nurses.

I wouldn't want to do their job because it looks intense. However bad my spreadsheets get I don't think it compares Grin.

AluckyEllie · 05/07/2020 13:35

@Lockdownlooks Not a problem, I love a good rant especially when its in favour of the NHS! Grin It's always nice to hear support of the NHS especially as it is so enormous it can be a bit cumbersome and weighed down in protocol etc.

@jitterbugintomybrain

I think I personally would although I have no plans to at the moment. But I am lucky enough to be in good health with minimal risk factors, and it would easy enough for me to self isolate after even if not required. I wouldn't want my parents going though as they are in their 70's and frail so I think it very much depends on your circumstances.
