Do you value your receptionists?

Sarahlou63 · 14/09/2019 10:44

Which are easier to handle - the patients or the owners?

Bluewavescrashing · 14/09/2019 10:45

What is your annual salary?

Do you own your practice?

What hours do you work?

MadCap · 14/09/2019 10:45

Would you prefer to put down a dog with a bite history outside of the home (large primitive guarding breed) than see it go a rescue?

cloudysunsets · 14/09/2019 11:04

I should have been more specific I guess. I do not work with pets and actually work with wildlife but I will answer to the best of my experience and knowledge

Do you value your receptionists?

I have previously worked at a couple practices and they really deserve so much more credit than they get. They are the first face the angry owners have a go at and they still have to smile the rest of the day!

Which are easier to handle - the patients or the owners?

THE PATIENTS. The owners are so much more difficult than patients. Lying, screaming, not following medical advice and then blaming you for pet’s disease/death

I am not on a fixed salary. I work wildlife so it’s always changing. I do not own my own practice and I work all day everyday as I am a wildlife veterinarian

Would you prefer to put a dog down...
I believe it depends on the extent of injuries caused by said animal and the amount of repeated incidents and the circumstances in which they happened. That being said I do believe all animals deserve a second chance but then again more details would be needed.

What school / A level qualifications did you take?

I did not get my degree in the UK/EU but I suggest you check out potential universities and have a look at their requirements. Some are very specific and others slightly more flexible.
I assume it must be somewhere along the lines of biology, chemistry, maths

What kind of organisation do you work for / what kind of organisations hire wildlife vets?

I am currently based in Asia, I work for an NGO that focuses on the rescue of wildlife (trafficking, pets, etc)

All organisations that work directly with animals and hold rescue centres will regularly hire vets as most rescues involve animals in very poor health.

What are the most common type of animal you work with? Is it quite varied or is there a few popularly trafficked species?
