After being such a confident and strong minded individual I got diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder. AMA

I'm a wife in my mid 30's with two children under 11 worked 30 hours a week (nice) had an amazing social life with such a solid circle of family and friends, my husband since the day I met him 16 years ago absolutely loves me to bits, all off a sudden I woke up 4 months ago and couldn't leave my bedroom and my life has massively changed...

Diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder.
ASK ME ANYTHING.

Hi. Wondering if, before you woke up that morning and couldn’t leave the bedroom, if you noticed anything different?

How do you deal with people who are not understanding and have you tried EMDR?

Wethreekings

I just remember roughly to weeks prior saying to myself "there's literally not enough hours in my days" life was busy form all areas wasn't getting everything done but nothing major when I sit now and think. Had a so so busy life nothing in comparison to people who work double my hours and still have to for fill day to day duties of been a mom and a wife. Just kept feeling more n more exhausted.

I'm very lucky to have always had such a solid family and friends that go back further than my siblings, people knew I wasn't right and the closets to me knew that wasn't right for me to not answer my phone delete WhatsApp deactivate all social media (all still applies other than Mumsnet) like most for me to not have my phone in my hand is totally alien, the people who don't quiet understand and ask why? But how come? This isn't you,,?? Tbh I've literally cried and begged my mom to pick up these conversations for me and explain all for me she's dealt with family, friends, children's school, my work and manger I genuinely don't know how I would of and will continue this illness without her by my side.
EMDR is something knew I've been looking into this week do you have any experiences with EMDR.

EMDR saved me. At first I thought it was witchcraft but it really helped
Lucky enough to have it through work. It was a work related assault that caused PTSD.
Flowers it’s a long road.

Is it hormonal, the cause of your anxiety? Or stress? Or unresolved trauma? Or don’t you know yet?

I could have written this OP I'm in exactly the same boat as you regarding hours at work and no time, I then had a massive panic attack in a supermarket carpark then signed off work with meds back in June, I've only just stopped shaking, and feel emotional replying to you.

I've accessed community counselling that's helped a little but still waiting for the NHS. My GP has advised CBT but EMDR sounds a better option too after looking into it. The medication is what's settled me down but it's not forever and the therapy will do more in the long run.

We're on a long road, good luck to you, remember you're not on your own and you will get better.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It must be very hard and I hope your journey of recovery works out well for you.

One thing struck me very strongly as quite odd. Your main description of yourself is 'wife'. I am very happily married but I don't think I would choose 'wife' as a way to describe myself. I doubt your husband would say 'I am a husband' either. I guess he would say something like 'I am 32 years old, a taxi driver and married with two children.
