Can I cover up a fibroma with a tattoo or is it likely to make it worse?

@MmeBufo Only ever tattooed one reaper back in 2013. Would love to tattoo more though.

@paap1975 I suppose it would depend on the severity of it, but I would probably say no and to not tattoo directly over it. I have personally never come across it during my time of tattooing.

What’s a reaper?

I had my first tattoo earlier this week and am going away in a few weeks - if I buy proper dressings for it do you think i could swim in the pool for a few minutes at a time?

@Keepthebloodynoisedown Thank you. The clients that enquire asking for quotes. Then when you give the quote, they complain and say their "mate who tattoos from home" does it cheaper. I used to spend time explaining why it's better to be tattooed in an actual studio by someone with experience, but now I tell them to go and get it done by them if they are that bothered. 🤷‍♀️

@Pringlemunchers You can. It would depend on how severe they are, so I'd arrange to see the client prior to the booking so I could check before I go ahead.

Haha yes, so do you agree with the statement "people get the tattoos they deserve"?

How do you feel about people getting their SO's name tattooed on them?

Pringlemunchers - I've had my stomach tattooed after having two children. Stretch marks aplenty (although they'd had 7 or 8 years to settle). Has worked a treat.

How did you get into tattooing? Did you serve an apprenticeship, and do you have art training, e.g. degree in fine arts or graphics. Also how many tattoos do you have and who is your favourite tattooist?

@PseuDenim I'm assuming the PP meant a Grim Reaper.

It is strongly advised against swimming with a healing tattoo due to chlorine and bacteria. That being said, I have done it myself. As long as it's past the scabbing process and there are no "open wounds" then I personally can't see it being a problem. If you were to submerge it for a long period of time whilst scabby, it affects the healing process a lot. If you were to stick a dressing over a scabbing tattoo, you run the risk of it sticking to the tattoo and when unwrapping you could accidentally pull off a scab that wasn't ready to come off. That can tear ink out of the skin.

What's the most ridiculous request you've ever had as an artist?

@mumderland It's personal choice. I do have a now ex's name. Obviously I regret it 😂

That being said, if I had a client come in and asked for one I would agree to do it always, but I would suggest doing it a size or a place where it could be easily covered if need be...

If the client comes in with their partner, I still ask them if they are 100% sure if they want to do it. I've had people's partners be a bit pushy on them when I've questioned it and I always stand up to them and say why they should think twice and it's the persons decision not theirs.
