I grew up as one and left at 18, 12 years ago and was disfellowshipped. Ask me anything if anyone is interested Smile

I’ve spoken to JWs a couple of times on the doorstep, did you genuinely believe that the world was so young? One once told my husband that Noah was 10 foot tall and 800 years old or something like that too, how do you come to believe that? Must be very hard to come to terms with it not being true. Also I got the feeling they didn’t care if I believed them, but almost that their job was to try and ‘save’ me; I clearly didn’t want to be saved so their work was done? How did it feel to believe that something terrible was coming and that you’d be ok but everyone else is damned? Sorry if I’ve massively confused JW beliefs there, it was a long time ago?!

I just listened to an interview with another former JW who wrote a book about her experience:

www.npr.org/books/titles/729769050/leaving-the-witness-exiting-a-religion-and-finding-a-life

It really clarified a lot of questions for me. Like why study at university or pursuing a career is discouraged - there's no point when Armageddon is imminent.

The JW have been around for about 100 years. Did anyone ever wonder why the apocalypse still hadn't happened?

Do JW believe in salvation? I'm not sure because they claim to be Christians but don't believe that Jesus is the son of god.

What's the deal with heaven? Again Christians believe that the only way to heaven is through Jesus. Do JW believe in the Holy Spirit and the resurrection?
