As title says.

I have wanted to do this for ages but haven't because of elections and fears of staying anonymous. Have created a new account.

Happy to answer anything other than things that may be outing.

Ask away........

@curlyrebel

We are very lucky in that it's only about 40mins into London. So travels in most days.

@Frangipane

I'd say I sit a more centre. Also I can look at things much more apolitically. I can look at each view/idea/action separate from party politics.

I have never met a political couple that had totally different views if I'm honest.

@BlackBathroom

Sometimes. Not hugely, as like I said he isn't high profile. But I have changed user for this post, and I am very careful to be none comital on things like social media etc as I would worry a slow news day would take something out of context.

TorchesTorches · 08/05/2019 18:49

Do you watch him on Parliament tv!?

Every1fed · 08/05/2019 18:50

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

Generally yes, although see above. I am certainly more centre.

OP posts:
Hollowvictory · 08/05/2019 18:50

So not an MP?

Every1fed · 08/05/2019 18:50

@Hollowvictory

Yes

OP posts:
Every1fed · 08/05/2019 18:52

@crosser62

I am probably only educated to answer 3,4 and 5.

Yes to all of them

OP posts:
Every1fed · 08/05/2019 18:53

@HopelesslydevotedtoGu

Yes!

He is leave. Although- as seen, that can be a very broad and varied view.

OP posts:
Muddlingalongalone · 08/05/2019 18:56

Did he have a job before entering politics or is he a career politician?

Every1fed · 08/05/2019 18:57

@Elpheba

Reasonably so. Not guaranteed and things are always changing.

Yes we have kids- we manage the same as most couples where both parents work. I do have a job that is local to home and schools. Realistically if would be impossible for me to have a job with more responsibility etc. I finish at 5 and wouldn't never have to stay late etc.

OP posts:
Every1fed · 08/05/2019 18:59

@DamnPoliticians

Maybe sometimes. Although honestly no more than with anyone else I have had a relationship with.

OP posts:
Every1fed · 08/05/2019 19:00

@Muddlingalongalone

Yes he had another job for not far off 20 years! But politics always sat on the side.

OP posts:
Debenhamshandtowel · 08/05/2019 19:12

Thanks for answering! If you’d said yes it would have been outing Grin

Where does he stand on self ID?

HowardSpring · 08/05/2019 19:22

Does he get abuse or vitriol from people "just because"?

How do you protect your children from nasty people who hate their dad's politics?

Hollowvictory · 08/05/2019 19:29

Yes he is an MP or yes he isn't an MP 😵

Every1fed · 08/05/2019 19:30

@Hollowvictory

Yes he is an MP

OP posts:
Every1fed · 08/05/2019 19:35

@HowardSpring

Yes! All the time! You have to just switch off unfortunately and realise that some people will never be happy, no matter how hard you try to explain/educate/help etc.

They are too young to be aware at the moment. I do worry about it though as they grow up to be honest. But then I look think how many average teenagers talk about politics at secondary school any way really? I certainly don't remember doing so!

OP posts:
S1naidSucks · 08/05/2019 19:39

Does he use the TWAW line?
What’s his opinion on self id?
Does he believe women still need feminism?

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 08/05/2019 19:47

OP, are you sure this thread is a terribly good idea?

SchrodingersBrexit · 08/05/2019 19:52

Do you wish he had a more 'normal' career?

TheSheepofWallSt · 08/05/2019 19:57

I’m with @MaudBailey

OP- I never thought I’d say this- but does your husband know you’re doing this?!

ConstanzaAndSalieri · 08/05/2019 19:59

I went to school with the daughter of an MP. I think it’s a tough life on the family whatever the views on the politics.

Would your husband like a more senior role?

Did you always know he wanted to be an mp, and if not, did you have to be talked round to the idea?

Weirdest perk?

SlidingDoor · 08/05/2019 20:00

Careful OP, it’s not hard to begin to narrow down who you are if everything you have told us is true.

  • he is lab or tory
  • he is in a Home Counties constituency (40 mins commute to London)
  • he supported the Leave campaign.
  • he’s a back bencher
  • he has two primary school aged kids and is at least mid 40s if he worked for twenty years before becoming an MP. So he became a dad late.
  • he wasn’t an MP before he was 40.

If I had a spare twenty mins I bet I could work out who it was from those bullet points. That may not matter to you but if you mean to reveal your identity do so consciously.

FWIW I have a family member who is an MP and I think on the whole they do a hard job for no thanks and have to live difficult invades lives despite choosing a career they almost universally chose in order to do good (even if I do not agree with their definition of good).

howwudufeel · 08/05/2019 20:02

How much does he care about social mobility?
