I was going to NC, but its probably quite clear from previous messages that I am, and well, it's nothing to be ashamed off!

Thought I would do this thread as naturism has found itself in the news recently. So if you want to know anything let me know and I'll try answer.

(Obviously all views are my own and in no way do I represent all naturists)

Have you ever had problems from the police/authorities who don't understand the law and how do you deal with that?

RomanyQueen1 · 08/03/2019 14:21

Are you cold in the winter and are you always naked?

Bananalanacake · 08/03/2019 14:22

Do you read the laundry threads on here and think. Ha, I don't need to wash 2 loads a day as I don't have much to wash.

Catscratchclub · 08/03/2019 14:23

What is about it that appeals? Is it just in the house? Do you choose your clothes with it in mind (loose fitting? Revealing?)

I’m genuinely intrigued so forgive me if my questions seem crude!

Shockers · 08/03/2019 14:25

Do you ever have sudden moments of self consciousness when naked in front of people?

Deinonychus · 08/03/2019 14:26

V personal question, but are you ever concerned about leaving, erm, secretions on a chair when you sit down?

CabbageHippy · 08/03/2019 14:34

how do you deal with very very delicate skin not burning in the summer? (especially if male)

eyeswideshit · 08/03/2019 14:40

I have not yet ventured out into 'clothed' society whilst nude, though I would love to find a naked ramblers group. Police have been an issue in the past, but there have been recent attempts to educate police on what exactly the law states, and if out nude we have been encouraged to carry a slip of paper with the laws written if there is any trouble.

I'm as happy clothed as I am naked, so I'm not naked all the time. Winter can be chilly, and you do have to choose between higher energy bills or clothes!

Haha, yes it definitely does cut down on the washing pile, and all the time spent thinking 'what shall i wear today?'

I skinny dipped once and after that i really hated swimming in a costume, uncomfortable and clingy. And I really like that it levels people, once everyone has their clothes off you're all on a level playing field, and everyone seems a lot less judgemental. The beauty of naturism is that there are people from all walks of life.

I'm naturist at home, and I also belong to a naturist club. A group of us also went on a naturist holiday last year. I actually like clothes as much as I like being nude. I generally go for 50s style dresses. But when going to a naturist event I definitely wear things that are easy to take on and off.

I haven't yet, but then I've always been with a group of other naturists. I could see it happening if it was out on my own. But we always carry a towel so I'd just cover up quickly

Naturists always have a bum towel that we sit on. One of the greatest sins of naturism is sitting on something with bare skin!

Lots of sun cream and sitting in the shade. If you've been a naturist a while though chances are you've got a pretty good all over tan and can handle the sun. Im not a man, so I cant really answer that one!

What was it that appealed to you at the start, did you plan it throughout a specific time, or just go for it.
I have to admit the freedom does appeal it must be so liberating.

I had just come out of a relationship, and with it lost a lot of my social circle. I joined a gym mainly to go swimming and use the sauna, but I found it uncomfortable with a costume on, so I looked online to see if there was anywhere that I could do these nude, and found a club not far from me. So it was 2 in 1 for me. I got to use the facilities and I found a new social group. I've always said if you're ever curious try go for a naked swim, because you'll never want to put a costume on again.

Grin In the bag with the clothes that I'm not wearing!

Has anyone ever attending a naturist social event for perverted reasons?

And have you ever seen a man aroused and if so what's the general reaction to that?

Sorry if it's an inappropriate question but I can't help but wonder!

Mentounasc · 08/03/2019 16:22

Does British prudery ever get on your nerves? - so many people seem to have the idea that being naked is intrinsically 'perverted'.

I've got a slightly different background to you, OP. I would never call myself a Naturist as such, but living in Central Europe people are just a lot less hung up about nudity. I didn't experience the same 'never go back ' moment after swimming naked, but I DO now find it utterly disgusting to wear clothes in a sauna. Yuck, sweating into your swimming costume, how disgusting is that! Do you feel similar about the sauna or any other activities?

eyeswideshit · 08/03/2019 16:44

*Has anyone ever attending a naturist social event for perverted reasons?

I'm sure people have attended for perverted reasons. You definitely get people that come along not knowing what naturism is and are expecting some sort of sex fest, but they are easily spotted and set straight.
It's really hard to explain but when everyone is naked, nudity very quickly becomes mundane, and anyone coming for kicks would be rather disappointed I think.
Unfortunately perverts do exist, and naturists safeguard just as textiles do. Plus I think you an get a feel for someone much better when they haven't got anything to hide behind, and if you've got a funny feeling about somebody, chances are you won't be alone.

I've never seen anyone aroused when it wasn't called for, but guys are taught that if it does happen you should cover up and take yourself away from anyone until it has gone. Again, because its normal to us, we don't really think about anything when we see another naked body.

Does British prudery ever get on your nerves?

It does when naturism starts getting attacked. As you say, on the continent, most saunas and spas are clothes optional, and naked sunbathing is the norm. It doesn't get on my nerves so much, but it does sadden me that people can't be more open minded, and insinuate that a textile way of life is better than a naturist one, or that all naturists must be perverted because we like being around other naked people.

What's the law on nakedness? It has not occurred to me there was a law besides 'No'.

What do the people expecting sex fests do that makes it obvious they've got it wrong?

Is it not uncomfortable to be without a bra? I would find it rather painful.

There are laws against being naked to cause alarm or distress. It is the prosecutions job to prove what the persons intentions are. There is no law against simply nudity. I could walk down the high street if I wanted, and naturism is a protected characteristic in law. In that sense we hate flashers just as much as anyone else, because they give naturists a bad name. I'm sure some flashers have used the guise of naturist, but it really is the antithesis of naturism, naturism is all about non-sexual nudity.

You get people making innuendos, and those that stare way longer than is appropriate. Its very easy to spot someone that would rather talk to your boobs than your face. They generally don't like to mingle either. It sounds silly but some people you do just get a bad vibe.

And no, I hate bras! Its the first thing I take off when I come home, I find them really uncomfortable

Have you ever stayed at Spielplatz? My mum was a nudist and she took us there for the afternoon in the early 80s to see if we might like to stay there. I remember as a small child finding it very twee and old fashioned.

AssassinatedBeauty · 08/03/2019 17:28

It is possible to be open minded and totally disinterested in naturism. It's not about being prudish or thinking that people are perverts.

My question is - do you find it irritating when people who are simply sex offenders try and claim that they are naturists? Imo no one should be forcing their "naturism" on anyone else who hasn't explicitly consented to it.

GummyGoddess · 08/03/2019 17:42

How do you stop your bag straps chafing your shoulders?

rainbowruthie · 08/03/2019 17:50

Not a question - just wanted to say I wish I had your confidence

Sorry, I haven't

Of course. It backs up the belief that nudity is sexual, and it means that 'proper' naturism isn't taken seriously by the mainstream, or, like recently, is actively being downtrodden. I do understand that the idea, to a non-naturist, can be hard to grasp. And as a naturist, it is really difficult to explain just how non-sexual naturism is, other than to say come and try it for yourself!

I've always taken the view that you should be able to live your life however you want, as long as you're not harming anyone else in the process, and to me that applies to both naturists and non-naturists.

How do you stop your bag straps chafing your shoulders?

I've never had this problem. But then I'm generally not carrying much!

Not a question - just wanted to say I wish I had your confidence

Thank you, its nice to hear, because I don't really see it as a confidence thing. I wasn't brought up in this lifestyle but nudity was seen as nothing to be ashamed of at home. I've grown up with no body confidence issues, despite being heavily overweight, and naturism has actually increased my body confidence. I know a lot of women have commented on just how liberating it was the first time they tried it.

"As you say, on the continent, most saunas and spas are clothes optional, and naked sunbathing is the norm."

This is just not true. It varies hugely by country. I've seen naked sunbathers in Spain, but it's definitely not the norm. Topless used to be the norm in France, though apparently getting less common now, but is a minority thing in Belgium. In some countries where saunas are 'naked', they are single sex.
I know that people are very relaxed about nudity in Germany and Scandinavia, but the whole continent is not the same.

ForalltheSaints · 14/03/2019 20:20

The very few clothes optional places I have ever been to in the UK are largely men- does this worry you?
