@FestiveNut honestly it does really vary, some settle instantly and some takes months to fully settle. I've seen one who came for a year (part time) and still cried every single morning.

Most of the ones who do cry/get unsettled when mum leaves take no longer than 15/20 minutes to settle at a maximum!

@evilharpy no there isn't, we work on a key worker basis so us workers are individually 'key workers' to a few children so we naturally have closer bonds with certain children!

@Sinisers I never judge a child's poor behaviour on their parents, as a parent myself, I'd hate it if someone judged my child's outbursts or cheekiness on my parenting!

I do like working with age 2-3 most!!

Yes, I do miss working with some children when they leave! It's always a bit emotional if you bump into them after they've left as they grow so quick!!

Lovely thread. In our nursery there are a lot of part time workers in the baby room, and at Xmas I wanted to get a gift but I'm not even sure how many staff there are, what gifts in this situation are really appreciated? Couldnt do chocs as nut free nursery. Ideas for next year would be great!

Do you take under 3s out on long trips without enough pushchairs for them all?

How does your nursery organise things so that workers don't damage their backs?

Any tips.

My daughter starts nursery next week going two days 9-3
She's just turned 3 and has rarely been away from me. Still breastfeed and sleeps in our bed.
It will do her the world of good but she takes a while to warm to new people
I know she will be fine I just worry the nursery workers will think she's unpleasant as she's not very friendly until she gets to know you (She's so very friendly when she's stopped being shy though) x
