How do you have time to do this. Are there lots of people in the waiting room waiting for your attention while you MN?

bumblebeess · 26/12/2018 13:14

What are your shift patterns like?

ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn · 26/12/2018 13:15

Do you ever want to tell the people who are taking the piss to go fucking home and stop wasting valuable resources? Have you ever?

Redcrayons · 26/12/2018 13:17

You been busy?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 26/12/2018 13:18

What are the most common injuries /ailments this time of year? The emergency vet was full of dogs that had eaten chocolate or mince pies (as had ours).

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 26/12/2018 13:18

What is your employer's 'internet use at work' policy? :)

DiveBombingSeagull · 26/12/2018 13:18

When people come in having fallen on household objects bottom first, does every get to hear?

Timeforabiscuit · 26/12/2018 13:18

solidarity I don't think the op is working this momentSmile

How did you get into an a&e receptionist role? If you had your time over woukd you choose your role again?

youaremyrain · 27/12/2018 21:53

I think you're supposed to answer the questions?!

Ah well, if you come back, can you tell me how to queue jump at A&E reception if there's a life threatening emergency? My very prem baby had a sudden health emergency a week after discharge. He went limp and cold and was hypothermic, I should have phoned and ambulance but being less than a mile from the hospital I drove there but I was very traumatised and couldn't bring myself to make a scene but the queue was very long. Some people noticed my distress and let me go in front but it took a long time and when I got to the front I couldn't speak properly. How could I have alerted someone to the urgency of the situation?

newestbridearound · 27/12/2018 21:58

Do you enjoy your job? Do you generally feel appreciated? (by management and patients)

Do you have any ‘no one will believe this’ type stories?!

babysharkah · 27/12/2018 22:02

Aren't you meant to come back and answer?!

DailyMailDontStealMyThread · 27/12/2018 22:06

youaremyrain in the absence of the op I’ll answer for you although I hope you never have to experience it again.

Most A&E entrances have ambulances outside. I would have found anyone in a uniform to help me before going in or stand briefly in the line and as soon as you spot a nurse, security etc present your baby to them and they will do what is needed. They are all the best placed people to help.

Needadvices · 27/12/2018 22:27

thats just bonkers , babys life is in danger an you re waiting in the queue!just jump the line!

youaremyrain · 27/12/2018 23:04

@DailyMailDontStealMyThread Thanks, looking for a paramedic is a good idea
@Needadvices I didn't plan it, in my mind beforehand, I would have said that I 100% would have done what they do in films and run in screaming "my baby!" I know it sounds crazy but I was so panicked I wasn't functioning properly, I couldn't make a scene as I was trying so hard not to faint myself. When I got to the front of the queue I couldn't speak, it was hideous, same again when he stopped breathing the next morning and I had to run for a medic, I got to the nurses station during handover but couldn't speak, luckily they guessed straight away. I hope you're never in that situation, and if you are, I hope to god you function better than me

youaremyrain · 28/12/2018 12:35
