My dd, just turned 17, is seven weeks pregnant. Do you have any regrets? Has it been harder than you thought? Do you have support from the father or your family?

leighdinglady · 30/08/2018 19:26

What's your long term plan? Will you go back to school?

It can be done. My mum had my sister and I by the time she was 18. She's now CEO of a huge company earning a small fortune. It was bloody hard work though and she needed a lot of support to look after us whilst she went to uni and worked as a secretary temping

Queenofthedrivensnow · 30/08/2018 19:35

How are you getting on?

PortiaCastis · 30/08/2018 19:36

I had my dd at 18 and I wish you well

PortiaCastis · 30/08/2018 19:37

How're you getting on with things and have you had insults from others, I know I did

I was brought up by a teenage mum and whilst I live my mam, when I think back it was still clear she was growing up at the same time as having me and I'm not saying this for all Mams but I know i was still quite young at the time.

What is your long term plan college job uni etc,

Are you still with the dad ?

Will you have any more ?

Do you have good family support ?

I sometimes wish I'd been more careful, waited a few more years at least but i wouldn't have DD if i did. No support from the father but my family have been incredibly supportive

I was doing a level 2 course at college when I found out i was pregnant so I stayed on the course until the end as it was only a year long. This year apart from resitting GCSE maths for third time I've just been focussing on dd. I do want to go back to college at some point but I'm not sure what i want to do exactly

I forgot to answer this question so i might as well now. I wasn't really sure what to expect, I didn't have much experience with babies. Besides my younger brothers but i only vaguely remember them being that young. But yes it's deffiently been harder than i thought, pregnancy so much harder than what I expected. It's also been a lot more rewarding, I didn't realise how much i would love her until I held her for the first time

I had my DD at 18 and her dad has never been involved either. I wish you the very best! Do you ever feel isolated from your friends? I always feel awful when I go online and see everyone at gigs and festivals but I’ve grown out of it now. Barely drink anymore I don’t know what’s wrong with meGrin

leighdinglady · 30/08/2018 20:51

I wish you all the luck in the world x

ButtonMirror · 30/08/2018 21:21

How have your friends reacted to you being a mum?

I had my first at 16 and only one person stuck by me.

Mondaymorningmood · 30/08/2018 21:23

I'm getting on alright, I've had a insults, I think partly because I look younger than I am so people tend to assume I'm around 14 or 15. I've had people say things behind my back as well

Are you still with the dad?
We broke up before DD was born

Will you have any more?
Maybe at some point but not anytime soon

Do you have good family support?
Yeah my family have been very supportive

Do you ever feel isolated from your friends?
Yes quite often really. I think my mum goes out for a drink more than i do Grin they all get together and go out a lot but I've only come once or twice so I don't get invited much now. I still see my closest friends and i talk to them regulary though

Thank you, Monday, and good luck.
Will be watching this thread and maybe showing dd (we don’t have the best relationship at the moment).

Do you mind my asking how you manage to support yourself and your daughter financially?

Mondaymorningmood · 31/08/2018 07:08

How have your friends reacted to you being a mum

I don't think they realised i was actually going to take it seriously at first. They thought i was joking for about 5 mibutes when i first told them i was pregnant. But my close friendship who I've known pretty much all my life have been supportive. Some friends who I'm not so close with have been a bit off with me but i just don't really talk to them now

I'm still living with my parents at the moment and they've been supporting us financially. I did have money saved up which is mostly gone now
