What kind of level of fitness would you need to start? I have been eyeing up beginner classes recently!

Also what you would you wear during classes?

Orlandointhewilderness · 07/08/2018 21:29

Can fat people pole dance!? I am very strong but also a size 20! would i look ridiculous!?!

Bananalanacake · 07/08/2018 21:30

Does it burn calories and help you lose weight?

KatyaZamolodchikova · 07/08/2018 21:32

What can I do to improve my shoulder flexibility?! My instructor says I’m so close to being able to do the Pretzel spin but my shoulder flexibility lets me down.

Also, what’s the best way to increase my upper body strength? Because my shoulder mount and kick ups are pathetic!

I have zero upper body strength; always have, even when I used to do strength training. I am a runner - I'm fit. But I would love to have the strength and grace of the pole dancers I've seen. I'm nearly 50. Is there any hope for me?!

I am not the OP but I am a pole dance instructor too. I can help as the OP doesnt seem to have returned!

I personally started with ZERO. Wouldn't even look at the gym. I was a mum of 2 just looking for something to do.

Your first classes should really be strength building/spins so I would imagine leggings and top would be suitable. The more skin that is out, the more grip you have. As you progress you do need more skin, so shorts and an adjustable top/crop top.

You wouldn't look ridiculous! There are way more plus sized pole dancer out there than you would believe.

Pole can burn approx 600calories per session. I have personally lost 2 dress sizes

The Pole PT has some great exercises and videos and her programme could really help!

Look at shoulder mount dismounts from a crucifix. If you can't control the dismounts, you won't manage the mounts

ABSOLUTELY
Almost every beginner worries about not having the upper body strength. This is WHY you do pole - to build this up!
Age is nothing, I teach grandparents, mums, daughters.

I am 4 months post partum (I'm unfit and I wobble!)
Can I do pole dancing for fitness?

Yes! Most studio policies should allow you to participate at this point post partum. Many people choose pole fitness as a way to get into shape after having a baby. You will have so much fun you won’t realise you’re getting fit.

What are some best pole dancing moves? Suggest to me?
