Thank you all, some really good advice and information here Flowers

Trying to think of other jobs I may like, like this if many TA’s are being cut off.

Nursing skills/A&E skills/few childcare qualifications and need “day time” hours because I’ve got a 2 year old in nursery, anyone any ideas on the holy grail of jobs?

I do think this job is close Grin

I got caught in a reshuffle, lost my position and struggled to secure a new one. As a result I moved to working in a private nursery. I absolutely love my job but my only advice about considering that as a job is don't! There are more positions due to 2/3 year old funding but many of these are term time only so money is even worse and not shared out for the year, it's catty/bitchy due to the age of a lot of the collegues and the workload is higher.

With your nursing qualification you could look at ta roles in a special school, particularly working with students with profound and multiple learning difficulties. Students often require more care including medication, oxygen, and tube feeding. At our school some TAs work 9am until 3pm and we have some shorter hours roles that are ideal for parents with primary school age children. The pay is pretty poor though but it is worth considering the savings you make on childcare especially over the holidays.

Loris I hadn’t considered that - thanks!!

Tomorrow, yes quite a lot of nursery workers are quite young women and I do find they can be quite catty (I’m only mid twenties but feel ancient next to a 19 year old Blush)

Where I work we have a nursing team who work the same hours as me 9-3.30. May be something like that's worth considering? The children agreed work have very complex needs with feeding tubes, traciostamies (,no idea how it's spelt) ètc. The nurses also look at how to help the children with incontinence issues too.

Donthugme, that could be a real option thank you
