Is a spa day the answer to every woman's problems?

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 15/07/2018 21:25

I run a spa and employ several staff. I have been in the business for several years. I do a variety of beauty treatments and have a successful business in the beauty industry.

TheOwlTheory- probably not but it’s about self care and that can help raise your mood and help you to see things from a better perspective.

What's the most popular treatment?

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 15/07/2018 21:31

NotMyCircusMonkeys- every area is different and every salon within that area has their own speciality. Our most popular treatments are nails, lashes and children’s parties.

How many times have you been aware of people having sex in the pool/Jacuzzi/sauna/steam room/changing rooms?

NickMyLipple · 15/07/2018 21:59

(I asked that because one time at an airport hotel in Spain, I walked in on a couple having sex in a sauna!)

dudsville · 15/07/2018 22:01

Where do you stand on tips?

tenbob · 15/07/2018 22:54

What's the actual definition of a spa, rather than a beauty salon?

In my mind, spa = water = a pool, sauna etc

But there are several places near me which call themselves a 'day spa' but just offer regular run-of-the-mill treatments like massages, facials and waxing

What's the difference please!

How well are your staff paid?
Do they do back to back massages all day?
Do they have breaks?

What is your opinion of clients and staff who get on well? As in have a chat and stuff like that.
For example, I've been getting my nails and eyebrows done for years (since I was 13, I'm now 25). I went to several places when I lived in the city I grew up in, they were okay and done the job well but the staff were not the nicest.
I moved far away for uni, so obviously had to find somewhere to go. I tried a few places but they weren't the best. I then started going somewhere that was very good, staff were fairly nice I thought. So i became a regular customer.
For reasons I won't go in to, I chose to stop going there. I tried a new place close to where I live instead. I can honestly say I've never been to a nicer place with friendlier staff. They are all so lovely and friendly. We have a chat every time I go, about everything really. It's such a relaxed atmosphere, that's why I love going (obviously I'm a regular customer and would never go anywhere else).
So what's your take on it? Is that quite common between staff and regular clients?

Hang on, children's parties, in a Spa?

GruffaloPants · 16/07/2018 18:11

How much do you earn?

LockedOutOfMN · 16/07/2018 18:13

Have you ever not wanted to give someone a bikini wax?

Smallinthesmoke · 16/07/2018 18:52

How can I tell if a salon is high quality, say, for a pedicure? What sort of things should I look for?
Today for example, I tried out a new salon. The tools weren't kept in that blue cleaning solution and the lady did a sawing motion with the nail file. At times it was painful. I have come out of places before with bleeding feet, and completely unsure if I could be catching an infection from shared tools etc.
Are salons inspected for health and safety? What do you look for which reassures you all is well?
