I've not seen anybody else post about piercings yet (I also do micro dermals, sub dermals and scarification)

How do you honestly feel when people bring their babies to you for ear piercing?

Have you ever refused to pierce a baby?

What’s the weirdest piercing you’ve ever been asked to do? And did you do it?

ByeGermsByeWorries · 13/07/2018 11:30

What do you honestly think when very overweight people want to have their belly button pierced?

I'm huge and want mine done but I'm embarrassed :D

I don't pierce anyone ears with a stud gun so generally as soon as I inform the parents this they walk back out anyway.

I wouldn't pierce anyone under 10 regardless.

I've been asked to pierce someone who didn't want any jewellery (so basically want me to pay them to put holes in their body purely for pleasure?)

I don't judge anyone by their body shape. I believe everyone can have any piercing they desire regardless of gender, profession, body size etc. The only problem you may experience is that surface piercings (which a navel is) have a much higher rejection rate on larger people due to the increased fat deposits. The tissue used is softer and so of less likely to form the scar tissue needed to hold it in place fast enough.

And I still can't bold correctly. Apologies

Thank you wobblebot :) I just need to pluck up the courage to go in! Just worried they'll laugh or be disgusted Sad

What do you think about people with no piercings, not even ears? Do you think 'boring' or are you mentally rubbing your hands together thinking about what you could do with a fresh canvas? Grin

crushedstrawberries · 13/07/2018 12:59

How did you become a body piercer??

Frosty66612 · 13/07/2018 13:03

Do you get many people getting intimate piercings?

ClandestineAdulation · 13/07/2018 13:03

Can you tell us about scarification?

Is it difficult to do?
Does it make you feel uncomfortable?
Why is it preferable for some people over a tattoo?
Is it permanent?
What’s the oddest design you’ve had to do?

Thanks!

I had my rook pieces in February and it's not healed yet. Everyday I'm cleaning it and getting crusty bits off. It's a little bit sore still but only if I'm rough with it.
Is this normal?
I would go back to where I got it pierced to ask, but I had it done at a tattoo convention and can't remember the name of the shop and it my well be the other side of the country. (Tattoo convention was 2hours away)

NikaKaKa · 13/07/2018 13:12

How hard is it to re-pierce nipples?

My first experience was terrifyingly painful (more than childbirth!)...want to get them done again but i'm dead scared!

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/07/2018 13:14

What would cause holes to become to closed over/painful to 're insert earrings after just a couple of hours when they have been pierced for months?

Oh not at all, completely their decision. If I'm honest, I don't really notice.

How did you become a body piercer??
My father is in the body modification profession and I was a little lost after leaving school so kind of just fell in to it.

Do you get many people getting intimate piercings?
Not a huge amount no, probably 1 in 50 piercings are genital piercings.

Ok, so, scarification in my most honest opinion is disgusting. I don't particularly like doing it, it smells disgusting (the amount of blood), is vary rarely permanent in the sense that it isn't wholly defined for a great deal of time. I think people choose it over a tattoo as it makes more of an impression? I'm not sure. I don't do any kind of design that is intricate as it just doesn't look good (not that I think they really do anyway) so it's usually symbols of a type or another. I do scarification purely for the money.

It's difficult to say without seeing it. Cartilage piercings can take over 9 months to heel, especially is you sleep on it, get your hair caught in it or wear over the head earphones. Make sure you aren't picking it and still cleaning it with salt water (1/2 pint of part cooled, boiled water to 1/4 teaspoon of salt is my advice) fairly often, especially if you've washed you hair as soap build up can make the oldest of piercings sore.

It's not often I use previous entry and exit points to re-pierce, if this was the case it would feel very much like the first time. Piercing through scar tissue however differs from person to person and depends a lot on the technique used by the piercer. Also if you breastfed can sometimes change a woman's pain tolerance in that area.

What would cause holes to become to closed over/painful to 're insert earrings after just a couple of hours when they have been pierced for months?
It's a myth that holes 'close up'. What actually happens is new tissue grows from the outside in (even more true in the case of cartilage) so if you have a piercing which you are struggling to get jewellery through, it's probably because you're healthy and your body is doing what it is supposed to do. I don't recommend sleeping in stud earrings (In fact I really don't like them very much at all) but it may be worth inserting them every few weeks even if you take them straight back out again just to prevent the tissue from forming.

My daughter had a helix piercing six months ago. It's still raised, almost white, and sore to touch. Is that normal? There's no puss, it doesn't weep or throb, it's just tender to touch and doesn't look like it's anywhere near healed.

Frosty66612 · 13/07/2018 16:08

Other then ears, what is the most popular piercing you do?

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/07/2018 16:12

What do you recommend to sleep o
In then.

Dd1 lost her earring at swimming and couldn't get another pair through. She has a raised lump on the back of her ear lobe. You can see the hole on the front but not the back and she can't get it through after nearly a year of never having been taken out.

Unfortunately it can be. It's best to leave them to do their thing. The advice of twisting etc, is so detrimental to the healing of cartilage. Ask her to avoid sleeping on it and if it carries on, in a few months I suggest a new piece of jewellery whether it is longer or a different gauge (width).

If you mean ear lobes then I would say it isn't actually that common, a tragus (the sticky out part is). If I were to disregard ears altogether then it really depends on the season but I do ALOT of navels.

I recommend sleeping without earrings in lobes once they are healed.
If the raised lump is red then this is quite a common problem with piercings. It is called a keloid scar. You can use either tea tree oil or crushed aspirin and lemon juice to treat these types of scars. If it is white then I can guess the piercing was done with a stud gun and unfortunately this is a major issue with this method (and the reason I don't use them). It is probably pushed scar tissue and I don't have any suggestion on how to get rid, although many people do say that over a few years it does shrink enough to not be a pain (I have no first hand experience of this so that is third party information). If she would like to wear an earring in this lobe again i suggest taking her to a place that will perform a needle piercing. They will either re-pierce (which is almost pain and healing time free for this type of re-pierce) or will use a taper to reopen it.

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/07/2018 21:19

They were actually done with a needle. Bled loads for two or three weeks and is all lumpy at the back.

pippety · 14/07/2018 21:32

Other than ensuring the piercing is done with with a needle not a gun, is there any way to avoid/reduce the risk of developing a granuloma on a nose piercing? I really want it done midlife crisis but am worried about getting an unsightly lump right in the middle of my face!

namechangeforquestion · 14/07/2018 22:14

I got my eyebrow pierced and now it's lopsided... is this normal?

Which piercings are the most painful?
