I'm a mental health nurse in an inpatient service. Ask me anything.

As above. Have worked in inpatient forensic mental health services before, but now am working in inpatient services for older adults.

What’s most rewarding about your job?

Are you ever scared?

I've been waiting almost a year now for treatment, with no signs of it happening any time soon..I'm still struggling terribly some days, but feel like I have been forgotten about. Are the lack of resources and waiting lists as frustrating for you as they are for me? (not meant horribly towards you Flowers )

It is genuinely great to see patients get better and move on with their lives, so that has to be the best bit. Also I work in a great team and we all have a good sense of humour.

Yes it can be scary at times.

Yes the long waiting lists are incredibly frustrating for us as well. Especially when we have people waiting for input from community mental health services and social care and become essentially 'stuck' on the ward until they reach the top of the list for support from other services.
