(Hope hasn’t already been done!)

I’ve been loving the AMA threads and figured lots of mners would have cleaners

I have 8 years experience in mostly HNW households and have around 30 clients on my books

Although I have people working for me I still do a lot of cleaning myself

Hope I get some questions!!

crispy thank you! I 'retired' in October from cleaning. Hated office work so much I'm now cleaning again. I'm in uni too but of all the jobs I've ever done this is my favourite

If someone was looking for a cleaner and was too shy or friends were not people who had cleaners so couldn't find one by word of mouth what would you think the best process for finding a trustworthy cleaner would be?

dangermouseisace · 06/07/2018 14:09

Would you judge people with small not particularly lovely houses? Would you put as much effort into theirs as a mansion?

PaddysMarket · 06/07/2018 15:25

danger I'm a cleaner and I don't judge anyone, infact I worry my clients judge me because I'm just a "cleaner". I put the same effort in no matter who they are.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 06/07/2018 15:32

The weirdest thing I have found was a butt plug, just casually left in the middle of the living room

Did you clean it?

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 06/07/2018 17:47

How untidy/dirty/"lived-in" does a house have to be before you would judge??
I'm still on mat leave but with 2 small dc I find it impossible to keep the house tidy. Tidying toys etc at the end of the day seems futile! I can't keep on top of the crumbs 😩 would love a cleaner as the mess makes my anxiety worse but fear of a cleaner judging also would...

Are microfibre cloths really that good? All they seem to do is stick to my fingertips.
Can you recommend us some cleaning products, so far you said bleach and Zoflora but anything else? And how do I get water stains off tiles? I’ve tried everything from scrubbing to limescale remover and I can’t get it off, they look so dull.

goingtotown · 10/07/2018 13:20

Hot microfibre cloth with Zoflora, is that a bucket of hot water with Zoflora?
What’s the best thing to clean windows?

happymummy12345 · 10/07/2018 13:32

I hope I can ask this. But what tips or advice would you give in order to make cleaning quicker and easier?
What products would you recommend for cleaning?
What is the best order to get things done?
(I'm really wanting to make my cleaning routine more productive so I can finish it quicker. We live in a 2 bed terrace house, hallway, through living/ dining room, kitchen. Two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs).

Sunshiness · 10/07/2018 20:09

Anything that can be done to get rid of mold in bathroom? Sad

Shiraznowplease · 14/07/2018 04:42

What is the best way to clean stainless steel please? Have tried several sprays and wipes specifically designed foR this had still leave smears

tartantroosers · 14/07/2018 06:03

Nice thread. Place marking!

TheFurryMenace · 14/07/2018 08:10

I've upped my working days and really struggling to keep on top of the housework. I live in a tiny 2 bed house, with a small bathroom and a downstairs loo. What could I expect a cleaner to do for a weekly clean? Would asking occassionally for the oven to be cleaned or the beds changed be too much to ask?

What do you typically do? Is any laundry or window cleaning included? Im not sure what is standard, and what is extra?

Before I plump for a cleaner, I'd really like to know what to expect so that I am being realistic and getting value for money.

Thanks for the thread, very interesting.

TheFurryMenace · 14/07/2018 08:57

Also, what hoover would you recommend? Thanks

PaddysMarket · 14/07/2018 10:52

TheFurry, I'm a cleaner and do those things but with the oven I'd tell my client that you'd either need to pay for extra time or I would need to leave a room so I could fit in the oven within the hours. I only do inside of windows as I'm not insured for anything outside of the house.

AQuestionofIntent · 14/07/2018 11:11

Do clients give you sick/ holiday pay?

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 14/07/2018 11:17

Mop before hoovering, cos if you hoover first more bits will nearly always come up when you mop

  1. wet dust and hairs don’t get sucked up the vacuum

  2. so you’re dragging a dirty hoover head over the mopped floor leaving streaks and dirt?

I’m a cleaner, this idea has truly horrified me. Are you really leaving floors like that?

Etymology23 · 14/07/2018 11:30

I live in a small two bed house as well - how long would you expect cleaning it to take? What are the normal tasks a cleaner does weekly? E.g are there some tasks that you could rotate every couple of weeks so as to fit more of the irregular jobs in?

TheFurryMenace · 14/07/2018 13:06

Thank you Paddy, as I thought, that is good to know cleaners are so flexible! I thought they would just dust, Hoover, mop and clean the bathroom and toilet. I'm my house, that would be easily fitted into 2 hours, so hoping if I paid for 3, I could get jobs like oven, changing beds done.

Immigrantsong · 14/07/2018 13:16

What are your tips on finding a good Cleaner? Would you go with a company or a person? Anything to look out for? We have had no luck and need advice.

Minster2012 · 14/07/2018 13:29

Can I ask how you would get green stuff off nickel? It’s from using cleaning products on nickel which aren’t meant to be used, unfortunately by my lovely cleaner (soap & water only is meant to be used) & now the nickel has corroded green so I want to restore it without taking the nickel plate off! Any tips??!!
