As it says....ask me anything about emigrating to Australia from the UK, if you like.

Yes, we have a 9mo DD. He quite fancies Manchester as he has lived there before. NI is where all his family is though. And all of mine are on the opposite side of the world in NZ, it sucks really!

CathKidston Offspring is fricking awesome!

For those asking about spiders, we lived in Melbourne for 6 years, in a CBD apartment, then suburban house, then townhouse essentially in the CBD, on the outskirts.

13th floor apartment; balcony door open a hell of a lot, don't think we saw a single spider.

Suburban house; two massive huntsmen in the house, one that lived in the lemon tree and one on the car after being parked under a tree at Woolworths. Plus I imagine 'normal' spiders, though I don't particularly remember. That was with the study window open year round, day and night, when we were in or out.

Townhouse; we had a spider nest in the hallway but never saw anything other than babies (which got hoovered up) and don't know what variety they were. I imagine we may have had the odd one or two 'normal' spiders but again, I don't remember. That was with the door to the roof terrace open on all but the hottest of summer days.

The only snake I ever saw was out in the bush although you'd hear reports every summer of some outer suburban gardens having them.

Tentative we're semi-rural so roos and snakes are normal here as are koalas. Don't mind the marsupials but the snakes can bugger off!

Yeah, we didn't have much in the way of roos or koalas! Healthy possum population in the CBD park though. Used to see tourists feeding them at night!
