The Momcozy Smart Baby Monitor-BM04 comes with a camera and parent unit
How does the Momcozy Smart Baby Monitor-BM04 look?
The Momcozy Smart Baby Monitor-BM04 has a clean, modern look that feels fairly streamlined in a nursery rather than bulky or overcomplicated. The setup centres around two main parts: the camera and the 5-inch parent unit, with the option to add up to four cameras in total if you want to monitor multiple rooms or children. It’s also available as a bundle with two cameras included, which makes the split-screen feature more useful straight out of the box.
The camera itself is compact and unobtrusive, with a simple white finish that blends in easily on a shelf or wall mount. It has a wide pan-and-tilt range, so it can cover most of the nursery without needing constant repositioning, and the moving lens gives it a slightly more high-tech feel than more basic fixed monitors.
The parent unit is slim and handheld with a sleek dual-screen setup and physical buttons that keep navigation straightforward. Amy particularly rated the display quality, describing it as having a “crystal clear screen,” which helps the monitor feel more premium overall. The split-screen option is especially handy if you’re using more than one camera, allowing you to keep an eye on two spaces at once without flicking constantly between feeds.
Unlike systems such as the Babysense 7 True Sleep, there are no additional breathing sensor pads or separate nursery components involved, so visually the Momcozy Smart Baby Monitor-BM04 setup feels fairly minimal, mainly just the camera in the room and the portable screen nearby.
How sturdy is the Momcozy Smart Baby Monitor-BM04?
Amy found the Momcozy Smart Baby Monitor-BM04 reassuringly sturdy in everyday use, saying, “It’s relatively robust and has been dropped a few times on the laminate and tiled floors and survived – thankfully!”
The camera and parent unit both feel solid rather than flimsy, and the overall build quality gives the impression of something designed to cope with the usual knocks of daily family life.
What’s the Momcozy Smart Baby Monitor-BM04 like to use day to day?
In day-to-day use, Amy found the Momcozy Smart Baby Monitor-BM04 straightforward enough to become part of their routine very quickly. Despite having lots of features, it never felt overly complicated to use, which is exactly what most tired parents want from a baby monitor.
Getting started each day was simple. Amy explains: “To turn it on, push and hold the power switch, then it takes a moment to connect to the camera. Then it’s awake and good to go.” She also liked that the physical buttons were easy to work out, adding that there are controls for “home, return, directing and zooming the camera, using the microphone… and finally one for taking photographs if you put an SD card in the monitor.” It’s worth noting that the SD monitor is sold separately.
In practice, though, Amy says her and her husband mainly used the free app for taking photos and videos. The alert settings ended up being one of the features they used most. “This lets you turn the screen off… but it’s still turned on so if an alert is triggered the screen and sound come on together,” she says, adding that it was “great at waking you up.”
Amy also rated the customisable motion and sound alerts, particularly the option to create a safe zone around the cot area. “If there is movement outside of the crib it can wake up,” she explains, while the sound alerts can be adjusted so that crying triggers the monitor without every bit of background noise setting it off too.
The lullabies and nature sounds also became part of their routine, particularly the nature sound settings, which Amy says worked well for settling her daughter before sleep.
