I remember reading her first essay on this subject and bursting into tears, she summed up what so many women felt and we really did need her to publish it.
Thank you so much JK Flowers

But not anyone else hence her rage.

Well I suppose as she’s not issuing rape threats, death threats, beating people up or pouring piss everywhere she’s not as angry as the men in dresses now they’re banned from female spaces. Now there’s some examples of rage.

Amd you missed her point that those women don't often find themselves in a state of partial undress with these men. Through job privilege.

JKR is assuming that & provides no evidence to back up her claim.

I engaged with it more than anyone else here when I made the point that indeed JKR was right that experience influences perceptions hence the support of trans people from women who don't consider them as a threat..

It's you who can't engage with the fact that JKR discredits her own argument with this position.

As a an elderly feminist I have watched with horror at what has happened to hard-won women's rights in this country over the last 20 years as a result of the rise of gender ideology. That political leaders of all persuasions have been complicit has been astonishing. J K Rowling has been a shining beacon of reason, compassion, understanding and intellectual honesty in all this and has been vilified as a result. Her essay today is wonderful. Can I suggest that everyone sends a copy of this essay to their local councillors/MP, council leaders, union leaders and anyone else they can think of and ask for a response. It would be interesting to hear the opinions of Zac Polanski, Lisa Nandy, David Tennant, among others.

I was thinking this, am in Australia, but it is so relevant here, even given the fact that our Sex Discrimination Act does not differentiate between women and men with gender confusion. Will send to my MP and a bunch of other pollies, on both sides (the right side of history and the wrong side) x

OK, I accept that you read it; but your response didn't engage with what it actually said, you just expressed your low opinion of JKR.

Your low opinion of JKR and a rational argument against the points she makes could co-exist, you know.
You went for the easy option, the low-opinion-of-JKR option.
Fair enough, that's your choice, but it doesn't so much miss the point, as ignore the point completely.

It would be interesting to read a rebuttal of the things JKR wrote for a change, rather than predictable negative statements about the woman herself.

You must of missed that there was a fair amount of humorous commentary of Rowling a billionaire smoking a cigar on a super yacht quoting Churchill's

"I love it when a plan comes together".

JKR was certainly onto something about elites.

If you’re going to come on here to try to persuade us women-who-wrongthink to see things from your point of view, at least proof-read your posts. It’s ‘must HAVE missed’, not ‘of’.
You’re welcome.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 21/10/2026 22:35

Sometimes when you read the seething sneering, it's easy to focus on the saddos hating on her.
But this is a time of massive change with even the trans captured civil service, the NHS and at last schools, finally recognising the law and that women and children have rights to be safe and away from men determined on violating boundaries.
JKR has given so many women the confidence to speak out and know that we're no longer alone.

That photo winds TRAs up as much as the FWS cork-popping photo does. So thin skinned

Iamnotalemming · 21/10/2026 22:34

Also, JKR is brilliant. Thank you, Jo. Her insight into where the pleas for help with discrimination cases are coming from is both depressing and not surprising.

So what's the 'update'?

JKR is very angry. She's especially angry with women who won't agree with her that trans people are a danger. She thinks these women must live in an elite bubble where violence never happens.

Or maybe, just maybe they live in the real world not a castle & never noticed a dangerous trans woman.

Yes indeed Joanne, experience does shape one's perceptions.

Oh I read it alright. Must be very disheartening as it was for Churchill (who she ironically & hilariously compared herself to) to be 'cast aside' by all the 'ingrates'.

Maybe rallying the 'troops' with this inspiring war cry will do it!

She's so succinct:

"People who preen themselves on being bold champions of the vulnerable rail against women like me for the crime of speaking well-evidenced facts. For instance, there is zero evidence that trans-identified men don’t share the same pattern of criminality as all other men. On the contrary, all the evidence points the other way. ‘No predator needs to transition to gain access to women and girls,’ say the trans activists. But the question is not ‘do they need to?’ It’s ‘do they ever?’ And the answer is, unequivocally and tragically, yes.

Does this mean all trans-identified men are predators? Of course not. Should trans people be discriminated against when it comes to housing or employment? Of course not. Should trans people be stripped of their human rights, or denied personal safety? Again: of course not. But the statistics don’t lie: men as a group pose a risk to women and girls, as a group. Of course, all men aren’t rapists, voyeurs or flashers, but enough are to make safeguarding necessary. That’s why women and girls want separate changing rooms and public bathrooms. That’s why women need male-free spaces when seeking to recover their sense of self and safety after rape. Not because we hate trans people, not because we want them dead, not because we want them somehow eradicated from existence, but because women and girls have specific issues and needs that men do not, even if they’re calling themselves women and even if they’ve taken cross-sex hormones."

I think thats the first time I've ever heard her called 'succint'! 😂

She writes the line about death and rape threats lightly, but I can only imagine how it has been to have been made into a hate figure. By people who can barely suppress their seething hatred of a woman who is articulate and successful.

And by a bunch of people who really are hypocrites and bastards of the highest order.

I'm not sure she herself responded to news of a school simultaneously dropping her name and Churchill's as house names. There was a fair amount of humorous commentary on JKR and Churchill being victims of 'cancel culture'.

You'll struggle to make a character smear out of this very minor story! But, since you don't seem to understand the meaning of 'irony', I'll leave you with your misplaced sense of smug cleverness.

donkey86 · 21/10/2026 22:16

“As George Orwell said, ‘freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two is four. If that is granted, all else follows.’ If a man can be a woman, there is no such thing as a woman. That might not matter to you personally, but it matters to millions of women who don’t have the luxury of pretending that their sex doesn’t matter. I remain on their side.”

Simply wonderful.
