Haven’t read it yet - off to do that now. But wanted to mention, while it is still fresh in my mind, that this week I started listening to a folklore podcast - the hosts are two young women. In the first episode there was a short discussion on goblins where one of them mentioned Harry Potter and the other cough/muttered TERF, the other then did the same. They then agreed collectively that it is ok to have memories of HP but you shouldn’t buy any new books as JKR is a terf. I almost switched off at that point but I’m glad that I didn’t as they were later discussing Bluebell Hill and ‘phantom’ hitchhikers and they agreed that neither of them would stop their car for a man due to the obvious danger…staggering cognitive dissonance. Obviously I won’t be listening to them any further!

Can't believe they would judge a hitchhiker's identity like that...

So exclusionary.

This comment from reddit 🤣

Now that all her money is drying up, because people are seeing her for who she is, she's trying to back away from what she said.

Several companies who have paid for her work are now asking for reimbursements, and talking to lawyers to cancel contracts.

She has become a pariah in the entertainment industry.

Just delightfully delusional, despite the context I find myself smiling at their little feet as they stamp them. You know, the way that a tantrumming toddler is really annoying and completely unreasonable but nonetheless a bit endearing.

It's a bit scary that many of those involved in this ideology are sooo far from normal

Yes, people are famously not giving JKR any money any more 😂 she hasn’t got her intellectual properly rights to the hottest series of this year or anything and all the stuff that’s going with that!

Are they confusing “her money is drying up” with “she gives a lot of her money away “?

I'm not sure how the money is drying up....

Can I ask lovely people of this thread….is Coolfor the Lacksie of this thread?

Edited

No, Coolfor is not as clear in their arguments as Lacksie is. I think Lacksie has the edge when it comes to making a case.

Not much to go on, I know, given that the arguments in each case are weak, based on a false premise, and incoherent (slightly ironic given that Coolfor said JKR has an incoherent argument)

Exactly! 🙄 dimwits

It’s astonishing. They otherwise came across as intelligent and articulate, if a bit giggly.

What if they could see it was a man presenting as a woman? By their logic, if the hitchhiking man was wearing typical women's clothing they would stop. Would they stop? Does the clothing remove any assumed danger? Why do these people never think it through to the end?

Exactly! 🙄 dimwits

I got goosebumps reading. Such an inspirational woman.

Crikey, they really are very, very cross.

yet more "death, rape threats" but still refused to not spend all day on twitter

If she was upset by the "death and rape threats" and felt like they were in any way a problem and not just a rhetorical tool to use against the civil rights of others, she would log the fuck off twitter already. Or at the very least, stop picking fights there!

Why aren't our threats working.

Why don't people who don't like reading what JKR writes just not read it, not follow her on twitter? Why do they find it necessary to resort to sending rape and death threats?

These people and their issues are just so fucking tedious.

Yep, still with the industrial levels of misrepresentation of Rowling.
I mean, if you're gonna criticise her, fine, just don't keep making up shit.
But since trans ideology is built on a lie, then the activists can only lie when talking about it, criticising others.
I've known toddlers who are used to making things up to their mums who are more honest than this lot.

murasaki · 22/10/2026 12:59

Also, the trans community seems confused, to put it politely, re the BBC. They seem to think they're transphobic, all available evidence points to the contrary, so who knows if many will even watch it without evaporating into a pile of conflicted smoke.

Datun · 22/10/2026 12:57

Regarding the documentary, you'd have to go a long way to find something that JKR has said that doesn't sound entirely reasonable.

If they're thinking of doing anything resembling a hatchet job, I personally think they are doomed to failure.

And not just because of what she has or hasn't said. But because any kind of portrayal that isn't rational, can be spotted a mile off.

We see it on here all the time. The giveaways, the tells, and also, of course, the lies and the hyperbole.

People have wised up. However irritating it might be for her to be misrepresented, I genuinely don't think it would have the influence they would hope.

murasaki · 22/10/2026 12:56

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/10/2026 12:53

I was wondering if she’d make a statement that they’d put just before the credits, like on panorama or something when a politician or public sector organisation is investigated and criticised.

Or something like the Daily Mail's ' we have reached out to (insert celeb of choice) for comment.

More likely 'she declined to appear in this documentary'.

BiologicalRobot · 22/10/2026 12:55

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 22/10/2026 00:24

Sorry what?!

I'm still reading the thread but that post reminds me of the trans gerbils thread. Totally bonkers.

And I'm still struggling with their inability to see JKR saying she's Churchill if IW is a woman just means that she isn't Churchill. Same as me saying I'm the Queen of Sheba. Wonder if Kats now thinks I'm royalty 🤔😂

Thehorticulturalhussie · 22/10/2026 12:53

Are they a long way away or actually quite close but very, very small?

If you're making a documentary about someone alive, do you have a duty to ask them if they'd like to be on it? I genuinely don't know. Of course if I were her, I'd say no chance, and let them know my lawyers would be scrutinising it.

I doubt very much they'll detail any of the death threats, rape wishes , or photos outside her house. They'll just say 'some people were very upset and in their distress may have made some inappropriate comments', or some such guff.

I'm sure I read pot noodle wanted to be involved. Ahahaha.
